January 12th

Petty Theft – 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 0608 hours, officers were dispatched to a theft in progress at Safeway. An employee called to report a male was inside the business concealing bottles of liquor into his pants. Officers arrived on scene and detained the 38-year-old male as he exited the store. The male was identified as being the suspect by the employee and placed under citizen’s arrest. During a search of the male, he was found to be in possession of a bottle of unpaid liquor. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. While at booking, the male was determined to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – Cutting Blvd. / I-80
At 0903 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 53-year-old male driver of Richmond for an outstanding Alameda County warrant. He was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, he was released on a citation.

Mental Health Evaluation – 11511 San Pablo Ave.
At 1114 hours, officers were dispatched to the area on a report of a male exposing himself. Officers located the 47-year-old male from San Francisco. He was rambling incoherently that officers had arrested him 60 years ago. The male also appeared to have defecated on himself. Officers placed the male on a 72-hour mental evaluation hold. An ambulance transported the male to the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 11555 San Pablo Ave.
At 1148 hours, an officer was patrolling in the area when he located the victim’s unoccupied 1997 Jeep Cherokee parked on the north side of the Dollar Tree. The vehicle had been reported stolen to the Central Marin Police Authority on 12/21/15.

Possession of a loaded Firearm / Possession of a concealed firearm – Potrero Ave. / Eastshore Blvd.
At 1328 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. During the investigation, the officer located a loaded firearm in the possession of the passenger of the vehicle. The 22-year-old male from Richmond was taken into custody without incident. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking and released on a citation.

Residential Burglary – 2700 Block of Yuba St.
At 1328 hours, the victim called and reported a male rang his doorbell, then went to the back of the house and started banging on a back window. Moments later, the alarm sounded. Upon arrival, officers discovered a screen had been removed from a back window and the window smashed. No property loss reported.

Grand Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 1521 hours, an officer reported three suspects went behind the cosmetic counter at Walgreens and stole approximately $1000 worth of perfume during a span of 8 minutes. Officers are reviewing video surveillance in an attempt to identify the suspects.

Possession of a controlled substance – 240 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1914 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 25-year-old El Cerrito man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

January 13th

Auto Burglary – 2600 Block of Yuba Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect pried the passenger’s side door to gain entry to the victim’s vehicle. The suspect stole a phone and charger. The burglary occurred in between 1/10 at 1400 hours and 1/13 at 1030 hours.

Mental Health Evaluation – 10900 San Pablo Ave.
At 1334 hours, a 64-year-old male resident of El Cerrito walked into the El Cerrito Police station and stated he had thoughts of trying to harm himself by standing in front of a fire truck. The male advised he suffers from several mental illnesses. An officer called for an ambulance to have the male transported to the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center for mental evaluation.

Theft from Vehicle – 2600 Block of Brooks Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a sunshade. The theft occurred in between 1/9 at 1600 hours and 1/11 at 1100 hours.

Attempt Stolen Vehicle – 1600 Block of Kearney St.
An officer reported an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s 1984 Chevy S10 pickup truck. The incident occurred in between 1/13 at 1600 hours and 1/14 at 0530 hours.

Warrant arrest / Possession of a controlled substance – Carlson Blvd. / Shasta St.
At 2033 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 42-year-old Richmond woman for two outstanding warrants. During a search incident to arrest, the officer located methamphetamine in her purse. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Public intoxication – 6060 Central Ave.
At 0100 hours, officers were dispatched to Nation’s for an intoxicated patron that was belligerent towards restaurant staff. Officers contacted a 45-year-old El Cerrito man and found that he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The man was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 14th

Petty theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1642 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 45-year-old Oakland woman after she stole merchandise from the store. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Moeser Ln.
At 2235 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 68-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was issued a citation in the field.

Warrant arrest – Central Ave. / I-80
At 0112 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 45-year-old transient woman for an outstanding warrant. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty theft – 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 0506 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 32-year-old San Francisco man after he stole alcohol from the business. The man is also currently on probation for an alcohol related offense. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 15th

Shoplifting - Gina’s Beauty - 11299 San Pablo Avenue.
At 1319 hours, an officer responded to the report of a black female, approximately 18 years, 5’03” 130 lbs, wearing black turban and a long white tee shirt stealing hair products from Gina’s Beauty Supplies. The suspect fled to a gray sedan which left the area.
Battery – Lil Caesar’s - 11299 San Pablo Avenue.

At 1145 hours, an officer responded to the report of a battery. The suspect, a disgruntled customer described as a black female, approximately 40 years old, 5’04” 160 lbs grabbed the victim manager’s hand. She then leaned over the counter and tried to punch the manager but was unsuccessful. She fled in a gray Chrysler sedan.
Residential Burglary - 200 block of Ashbury St.

At 1525 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. Sometime during the previous few days, an unidentified suspect broke a small bathroom window and entered the residence. It appeared the suspect ate food, utilized the bathroom and slept in the bed. The suspect also stole personal items of the victim.

Shoplifting / Warrant – Lucky, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 1943 hours, an officer responded to a shoplifter in-custody and accepted the citizen arrest of 52 year old man from San Francisco after he left the store without paying for $128 in merchandise. He was also wanted on a confirmed San Mateo County warrant. His identity was confirmed and he was released on a citation in the field on the new charges and the warrant due to medical conditions.

DUI / Suspended Driver License / Drug Paraphernalia – Central Ave / Yosemite Ave.
At 0005 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 50 year old female from Richmond for driving under the influence. She had consumed alcohol, smoked crack, and taken 2 Norco pills in the two hours prior to being stopped. She was also driving on a suspended license and in possession of a crack pipe. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

January 16th

Auto Theft – 2000 block of Junction Avenue.
At 0820 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen 1997 Honda Civic. The theft of the vehicle occurred overnight.

Check Forgery - 11299 San Pablo Avenue.
At 0824 hours, an officer responded to the report of a check forgery at CheckIntoCash. An unidentified female impersonating a deceased woman cashed a washed and forged check on 01-07-16.

Shoplifter – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue.
At 0830 hours, officers responded to the report of a shoplifting that just occurred. Officers located the subject, a 53 year old Richmond man in the 11500 block of San Pablo Avenue. When he was contacted, numerous packets of batteries fell out of his jacket. He was placed under citizen’s arrest. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.

Assault on an Officer / Felony Warrant – Barnes and Noble 6050 EC Plaza.
At 1216 hours, an officer observed a subject with a felony warrant at the EC Plaza. The subject went into Barnes and Noble. When the officer attempted to detain him, the subject a 30 year old Richmond man attempted to walk off and then punched the officer. He was taken into custody. The officer and the suspect were not injured. The subject was arrested, booked and transported to the Detention Facility in Martinez.

Vandalism – Denny’s, 11344 San Pablo Ave.
At 2200 hours, an unknown suspect broke the front glass door to the restaurant. The suspect was described as a thin black male, 20s, and wearing a red sweater and white pants.

DUI – San Pablo Ave / Brighton Ave.
At 0149 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 52 year old male driver from Richmond for DUI. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

DUI – Carlson Blvd / Imperial Ave:
At 0237 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 46 year old female driver from Richmond for DUI. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

January 17th

Annoying Phone Calls – Game Stop, 3050 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 1527 hours, an officer responded to Game Stop on the report of a threatening phone call. An unidentified male caller wanted to return a game controller and when advised he would be unable to do so threatened to come down later and rob and shoot the employees. The manager could not find a transaction in the last week that matched the items which the suspect wanted to return.
January 18th

Residential Burglary – 900 block Liberty Street.
At 1055 hours, suspect 1 kicked in the front door of an apartment but was scared off by the residents. The resident saw two suspects flee on Waldo Avenue. The suspects were associated with a white late model Audi occupied by 5 black male adults. Suspect 1 was a black male 6’03” 20-25 years old, black dreads, black goatee, and gray long sleeve shirt. Suspect 2 was a black male, 5’05” 20-25 and wearing a black sweatshirt. The driver was a 30-40 year old black male.

Child Abuse – 2000 block Tapscott Ave.
At 1222 hours, an officer contacted the grandmother of a 13 year old girl who reported being thrown against the wall by her father a week ago during a visitation. The girl reportedly did not suffer any injuries and lives in Vacaville with her grandmother who does not want prosecution. The father was identified as a 51 year old male who reported that he pushed her hand off of him.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave / Panama Ave.
At 2022 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 31 year old male passenger from Concord for possession of methamphetamines and a glass pipe. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

DUI, Suspended Driver License, False Name – San Pablo Ave / Barrett Ave.
At 0133 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 38 year old male driver from Richmond for DUI and driving on a suspended driver license. The front passenger, a 39 year old female from Stockton, was not wearing her seatbelt and refused to identify herself. She then provided a false name and was taken into custody in order to positively identify her. Both the driver and passenger were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on citations.

January 19th

Stolen Vehicle – 600 Block of Lexington Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s blue 4-door 1993 Honda Civic. The theft occurred between 1/18/16 at 1800 and 1/19/16 at 0800 hours.

Vandalism – 3030 El Cerrito Plaza.
An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle between 0900 hours and 1415 hours.

Shoplift – 10650 San Pablo Ave.
At 1518 hours, an officer reported an employee notice two suspects in an aisle concealing bottles of liquor. The employee went to contact security, but the suspects ran out the front of the store when they saw the employee.

Domestic battery / Public intoxication – 1400 block of Richmond St.
At 0200 hours, officers were dispatched to a domestic battery between a 52-year-old El Cerrito woman and her husband, a 58-year-old El Cerrito man. During an alcohol-fueled argument, the woman struck the man in the face. The man was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The woman was arrested for domestic battery, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The man was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 20th

Auto Burglary – 11555 San Pablo Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed out the rear driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a purse. The theft occurred between 0830 and 0850 hours.

Residential Burglary – 5600 Block of Barrett Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed out the window of the victims backdoor to gain entry. The suspect conducted a light ransack and stole jewelry. The burglary occurred between 0800 and 1022 hours.

Possession of a controlled substance – 11965 San Pablo Ave.
At 2129 hours, an officer conducted a security check at the abandoned Taco Bell restaurant. The officer located 5 individuals loitering on the property. One of the individuals, a 47-year-old Hercules man was in possession of methamphetamine. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. Following booking, the man was released.

Stolen vehicle – 11450 San Pablo Ave.
Between 1113 and 2200 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1994 Honda Accord.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd.
At 2336 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 56-year-old Richmond woman for an outstanding warrant. The woman was released with a citation in the field.

Warrant arrest – Central Ave. / Yosemite Ave.
At 0035 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 51-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen vehicle – 5300 block of Rosalind Ave.
Between 1/20/16 at 2200 hours and 1/21/16 at 0400 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1995 Honda Civic.

January 21st

Warrant Arrest – S.52nd St. / Victor Ave.
At 1020 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. During the investigation, the officer conducted a records check of the 22 year old female driver from Richmond and discovered arrested the driver had an outstanding warrant. The female was taken into custody and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, she was released on a citation.
