The Upper Macungie Township Police Department has an important message for you! *Winter Storm Warning*

The Upper Macungie Township Police Department (UMTPD) wishes to remind it's residents that there is currently a Winter Storm Warning in place for our region. If the forecast is correct, it appears that Upper Macungie has the potential to receive 6-10 inches of snow, mainly on Saturday. This winter storm has the potential to create serious travel issues and make roadways hazardous. We ask that residents make alternate plans to avoid travel on Saturday if possible. However, if venturing out, please be sure to follow these winter weather safe driving tips:

1) Snow and ice covered roads can significantly increase travel delays. Be sure you have a full tank of gas.

2) Reduce your speed and leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.

3) Approach bridges and overpasses with caution.

4) Have a travel kit prepared- ice scraper, jumper cables, blankets, food, water, flashlight, blankets.

5) If you start to slide, take your foot off of the gas pedal.

In addition to these safe driving tips, we ask that residents check in with elderly/disabled friends, family, and neighbors as the storm impacts that region. High winds and snowy power lines may lead to power outages, so let’s do our best to give assistance to anyone who is in need of help.

The UMTPD is prepared for this winter storm and remains eager to assist disabled motorists and residents in need of police services. Remember, call the Lehigh County Communications Center at 610-437-5252 for non-emergencies and as always, dial 911 for emergencies.
