BLIZZARD WATCH, EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES & DISCOUNTED PARKING INFORMATION
BLIZZARD WATCH IN EFFECT
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch for our area from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon. Snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches and wind gusts up to 50mph are forecast. The storm may result in “extremely dangerous travel due to heavy snowfall and strong winds with whiteout conditions” and downed power lines and tree limbs from strong winds.
Salt brine will be applied to streets beginning at midnight on Friday. Garbage pickup remains on schedule. Construction sites must secure or take down cranes and scaffolding and secure all materials.
PARKING PROHIBITED ON SNOW ROUTES
Residents are reminded not to park along emergency snow routes. Emergency Snow Routes are labeled with street signs that read “No Parking When Road Is Snow Covered.” In addition, Temporary No Parking signs will be posted along Observer Highway and additional sections of 13th Street as noted below.
Residents are urged to move cars from snow routes by Friday night to avoid being towed. When streets are snow covered, vehicles parked on snow emergency routes will be subject to towing. This is necessary to move police, fire and ambulances throughout Hoboken in time of emergency for the safety and welfare of all citizens. A list and map of emergency snow routes is available on the City website: www.hobokennj.org/snow.

SIDEWALKS
Property owners/occupants are reminded that they have six hours after the completion of a storm to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, along with adjoining wheelchair ramps or curb cuts. Snow and ice must be cleared from gutters a width of 2 feet into the street. It is illegal to shovel snow back into the street or on a fire hydrant. Residents in multi-unit buildings with management companies should ensure that they are aware of City regulations in order to avoid fines. Residents are encouraged to assist elderly or disabled neighbors and to clear snow from fire hydrants. Additional details on city code regarding snow removal for property owners can be found at www.hobokennj.org/snow.
