Lockport Police obtain warrant for false stabbing report
On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at 1:57 PM, the Lockport Police Department received a report from a 28 year old female that she had been approached by two males who asked her for money. She reported that when she refused to give them any money, one male struck her in the face and a second attempted to slash her with a knife, which resulted in her clothing being cut and a superficial wound to her. She reported that the males fled the area without getting any money.
A subsequent investigation by the Lockport Police Department has determined that the report was fabricated. An arrest warrant has been issued for Crystal L. Juliano, age 28, or 1710 S. Jefferson St, Lockport. Investigators are attempting to locate Juliano at this time.
When a citizen falsely reports any crime of this severity, essential public safety resources, including law enforcement and emergency medical services, are redirected from their normal functions to respond. This, in addition to the hazards created by vehicles conducting an emergency response, results in an unacceptable risk to the safety of the rest of the public. As reports of this type of falsely reported crime are circulated, there is also an unjustified sense of panic that may spread through the population in the area of the reported crime. The Lockport Police Department considers the false reporting of a crime to be a serious incident and will continue to prosecute those who misuse public safety resources.
