Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

**This bulletin contains two weeks of information**

On Thursday, 12-31-15 at 8:18 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 100 block of Northridge Drive on a report of a woman who had been drinking, throwing things around the house, and kicking a dog. When the officers tried to take the woman into custody, one officer was struck in the nose by the woman. The 38-year old Daly City resident was eventually booked for corporal injury upon a spouse and child, obstructing/resisting a peace officer and for battery upon a police officer.

On Friday, 01-01-16 at 3:02 p.m., Officer Noah Serbin and Officer Nick Ottoboni were on patrol in the area of the Royal Palace Inn on Geneva Avenue and saw a subject with no shirt on parked in a gray Chevrolet Impala. They saw the subject walk into one of the hotel rooms. Dispatchers advised that the Impala was stolen during a commission of a carjacking in Stockton the day before and said a handgun was used in the carjacking. Officers took the subject, a 21-year old San Jose resident, into custody for possession of a stolen vehicle and for a probation violation.

On Sunday, 01-03-16 at 2:48 a.m., Officer Zachary Fulmore was in the area of Callan Boulevard and King Drive when he saw a male driver slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle that was running but stopped at a stop sign. As the officer tried to pull behind the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed. The officer chased the driver to a nearby dead end street on Cashlea Court in South San Francisco. As the officer started talking to the driver, he noticed the driver was extremely nervous. The officer learned the vehicle was stolen from Castro Valley the day before. A cover officer arrived, and the officers then placed the driver into handcuffs. After searching the subject, officers found a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine in the driver’s front pocket and a clear glass pipe in the other pocket. In addition to that, the officers located multiple credit cards not belonging to the subject, gift cards, two California driver's licenses not belonging to the subject, and items purchased with the credit cards not belonging to the subject. The subject, a 31-year old Martinez resident, was arrested for vehicle theft with priors, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of personal identification with the intent to commit a crime, and for several warrants.
On Sunday, 01-03-16 at 8:59 a.m., Officer Isaako Poti and Officer Janet Cordellos were dispatched to the area of 91st Street and Sullivan Avenue on a report of a suspicious person looking into vehicles. They located the subject, an 18-year old Broadmoor resident, who was already identified as a suspect via DNA evidence from a past burglary. Officers arrested the suspect and then determined that there were five other vehicle burglaries reported to the police, however he could not be linked to those. The subject was arrested for the prior burglary, possession of two completed checks not belonging to him and for possession of stolen property.

On Tuesday, 01-05-16 at 9:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Belcrest Avenue on a report of a male with a knife and flashlight looking into vehicles. The reporting parties said they both were the victims of criminal threats and brandishing of a knife by the suspect. The suspect, a 58-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for the above charges.

On Wednesday, 01-06-16 at 2:41 p.m., officers arrested a 25-year old female San Francisco resident for petty theft after JC Penney store security saw the suspect taking clothes. The suspect was also found to be in possession of burglary tools, methamphetamine with the intent to sell and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, 01-07-16 at 2:28 a.m., Officer Philip Wagnon was flagged down by an employee of the Royal Palace Inn who said he was concerned about a subject who rented a room, saying the subject was acting funny and that he saw what he believed to be a broken drug pipe outside of the room. The officer went to the room and contacted two subjects. One subject, a 49-year old San Mateo resident, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and for possession of burglary tools. The other subject, a 45-year old San Bruno resident, was arrested for possession of counterfeit money, obtaining another person’s identification, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools and for an outstanding warrant.

On Thursday, 01-07-16 at 6:50 p.m., officers conducted a search warrant in a room at the Geneva Motel. The subject who rented the room was suspected of selling drugs. Officers arrested the 54-year old suspect for possession of narcotic controlled substances for sale, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of narcotic sales, and for child endangerment as his 13-year old child was in the room. The suspect’s 30-year old girlfriend was arrested for child endangerment. The 13-year old was unharmed and was released to the custody of his grandfather.

On Friday, 01-08-16 at 11:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to Mission Plaza on a report of a subject attempting to run over another subject with a vehicle. The victim said he and his girlfriend had a short verbal argument which resulted in her intentionally backing her vehicle into his and striking him in the leg. The suspect then fled the scene. Officers later found the suspect in her vehicle in San Francisco, and Sgt. Mike Brennan exited his patrol car. The subject, a 25-year old San Francisco resident, drove forward, striking Sgt. Brennan and forced him up onto the hood of her car. The suspect then intentionally backed up and hit the officer’s vehicle. Officers then took custody of the suspect. A SFPD officer was assigned to guard the subject, and the suspect ran away. A perimeter check was conducted, but officers could not locate the suspect. She was arrested a few days later. Sgt. Brennan suffered an injury to his knee.

On Saturday, 01-09-16 at 5:57 p.m., Officer Patrick Dolan was on foot patrol on the Wilshire Walkway which runs parallel to 19th Avenue in San Francisco. Officer Dolan noticed a tent pitched on top of the berm directly under the overpass and talked to a female subject at the tent. The subject was sitting cross legged, and directly in front of her was a vanity mirror with two lines of a white crystalline substance spread across it. The officer asked the subject if the substance was cocaine or methamphetamine, and the subject said it was “meth”. Officer Dolan asked the subject to take a seat and searched the tent, finding a glass narcotics pipe, a California driver's license not belonging to her and two 12 gauge shells. The subject said she lived with three other people in the tent and didn’t have any information about the ammo. The officer asked the subject if she had any illegal items on her, and she said she had a pipe in her bra. The officer transported the subject to the station where Officer Karen Douglas searched her and found the pipe and a credit card not belonging to her. The 33-year old subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and for being a felon in possession of ammo.

Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
