Investigators investigate a accident that has critically injured one person
INDIANAPOLIS - Investigators with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) investigate a crash that has critically injured one adult male.
Just before 7:00 p.m. officers with IMPD were dispatched to the 9100 W. 10th St. reference a pedestrian struck. When officers arrived, they located an unconscious adult male suffering from significant trauma.
Preliminarily, investigators believe that driver of the striking vehicle was going west on 10th St. when the male victim suddenly started to cross 10th St. leaving the driver of the striking vehicle no time to avoid hitting him. The victim was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the striking vehicle stayed on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Investigators do not believe that the driver of the striking vehicle was impaired; however a standard blood draw will be performed to test for illegal intoxicants. Investigators did find the victim's truck in a nearby ditch. At this time, investigators are uncertain how the victim's vehicle landed in the ditch. Because of the victim's critical injuries, his name will not be released at this time to allow proper notification to the family should the victim succumb to his injuries.
