DETAILS: On January 13, 2016, at 0003 hours, Lawrence Phillips was found unresponsive in his cell at Kern Valley State Prison. He was transported from the scene to Delano Regional Medical Center Emergency Room where he was pronounced deceased. A postmortem examination to determine cause and manner of death is scheduled to be performed on January 15, 2016.
