HCSO: Homeless Outreach Team Arrest Wanted Felon.

(Harris County-TX) The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) has arrested a suspect wanted for two counts of Indecency with a child.

The suspect now identified as Robert B. Jones (DOB 05/24/1949), was taken into custody by deputies assigned to the HOT Team in the 4700 block of FM 1960 on Monday, January 11, 2016.

Defendant Jones inquired to deputies about being placed in a local center for the homeless. He gave the name Samuel Johnson to the deputies, along with an identity card.

Deputy L. Ditta noticed that the identity card was not a state issued card. The card was bought a local supermarket. When the name and date of birth was ran through the National Crime Information Center, the name provided and birth was not valid.

A deputy with a mobile AFIS system was dispatched and a true return on his thumb print was obtained.

He was then identified as Robert B. Jones, a wanted felon with two open felony warrants.

Jones was immediately taken to the Harris County Inmate Processing Center and is awaiting court appearance on the charges.

This is a fine example of the HCSO HOT Team taking their duties one step further by not only trying to place the homeless into the proper outreach programs. But also identifying criminals attempting to blend in and victimize the homeless.
