PRESS RELEASE FOR THE WEEK OF January 4th, 2016 – January 10th, 2016

Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations
and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Noise Disturbance: A caller reported that their neighbor was yelling profanities at other individuals in the neighborhood. Officers were unable to locate anyone yelling or making a disturbance in the area.

Possible Drunk Driver: A caller reported the driver of a vehicle smelled of alcohol while inside a local business. Officer’s later contacted the subject inside of a residence. No charges have been filed at this time.

Fraud: A local business reported multiple individuals who provided checks with accounts that were no longer open. This case is currently under investigation.

Lost Property: An Iphone 6 plus with a black otter box case was reportedly lost between Milepost 50 and 70 of the Richardson Highway. If found, please turn it into the Police Department.

Serve Time: Daniel D. Nicolai, DOB 07/19/1959 of Glennallen, reported to the Valdez Jail to serve 20 days on the conviction of Driving Under the Influence.

Suspicious Person: A caller reported a man had parked his vehicle across from their residence, and then walked into their yard. The individual had already left the area before officer’s arrival.

Disturbance: An argument between two individuals was reportedly coming from a nearby apartment building. Officer’s provided transportation to one of the individuals involved to another location.

Noise Disturbance: A caller reported a vehicle revving their engine in the area and believed that the vehicle may be stuck. Officers were unable to locate a vehicle or noise in the area.

Welfare Check: An officer conducted a welfare check on an individual after dispatch received a concerning call from the person.

Traffic Complaint: A dark colored Toyota pickup truck reportedly almost caused a head-on collision. Another vehicle had to drive up on the sidewalk to avoid it. The complaint was called in an hour after the event had happened. Officers were unable to locate the driver or vehicle matching the description given.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on a juvenile that had not been attending school. Officer’s made contact with the individual and parent. The juvenile was determined to be fine.

Animal Impound: A caller reported a dog loose in the area. The Animal Control Officer located the dog and it was taken to the Animal Shelter.

Serve Time: Matthew S. Ward, DOB 06/07/1985, of Valdez, reported to the Valdez Jail to serve 12 days on a Cordova conviction of Driving Under the Influence.

Fish & Game: A mere in distress was reported in the middle of the roadway. The animal control officer was unable to locate the bird in the area.

Trespassing: A caller reported someone drove on their private property. Upon officer’s arrival, no one was found on the property.

Medical Assist: Officers assisted medical personnel with an individual who was being treated after a suspected drug overdose.

Agency Assist: An officer assisted a Palmer Adult Probation Parole Officer conduct felony probation home visits in the Valdez area.

Remand: Trevin G. Barnes, DOB 09/13/1991, of Valdez, was remanded to the Valdez Jail on a felony probation violation.

Remand: Peter A. Brusky, DOB 08/02/1954, of Valdez, was remanded to the Valdez Jail on a felony probation violation.

Arrested: Christopher B. Silva, DOB 02/23/1981, of Valdez, was arrested on the charge of Driving While License Suspended.

Alarm: A motion alarm was reportedly going off at the Cities’ Water and Sewer Treatment Plant. Upon officer’s arrival, it was determined everything was fine and no one was found on the premises.

Unruly Customer: A caller reported a male in a local restaurant was being rude to a working female employee. Upon officer’s arrival, the subject had already left the premises.

Hit & Run: A vehicle was reportedly hit sometime within the last several days. This case is currently under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Accident: A caller reported her vehicle was rear ended in the parking lot of a local business. Par forms were issued to both drivers involved.

Trespassed: A local business reported an unruly individual was coming into the building on a daily basis being verbally abusive toward their employees. An officer advised the subject, and was told to leave the premises.

Disturbance: An individual requested to speak with an officer regarding another person threatening him earlier in the day. The subject was then spoken to and trespassed from the complainant’s residence.

Disturbance: Officer’s assisted two intoxicated individuals that had gotten into an altercation. Transportation was provided to one of the subject’s to another location.

MICS Info: Drug paraphernalia was confiscated from a juvenile at the High School and given to an officer.

Domestic Disturbance: A juvenile reported their parents were arguing inside of their residence. Upon officer’s arrival, it was determined a physical altercation had not occurred. The parties’ were separated for the night, and one of the subjects was provided transportation to another location.

Domestic Disturbance: A caller requested officer’s assistance removing his intoxicated brother from the residence after an altercation between the two of them had occurred. Upon officer’s arrival, one party agreed to leave the residence for the night and stay elsewhere.

Noise Disturbance: A group of intoxicated individuals were reportedly being loud behind an apartment building. Upon officer’s arrival, the group had already left the area.

Suspicious Activity: A caller reported he believed someone broke into their home sometime within the last week while the residence was vacant. This case is currently under investigation.

Suspicious Activity: A caller requested an officer check on her residence after her neighbor heard noises coming from inside her apartment while she was out of town. Upon officer’s arrival, the doors and windows were secure, and no tracks were found outside of the residence.

Medical Assist: Officer’s assisted medical personnel with an unresponsive, intoxicated individual.

Agency Assistance: A caller reported hitting a moose around 76 mile of the Richardson Highway. The information was forwarded on to the State Troopers.

Disturbance: A caller requested officer’s assistance removing an intoxicated individual from the residence after an altercation had occurred. Upon officer’s arrival, the subject was trespassed from the residence and left willingly.

Impeding Snow Removal: Several citations were issued to owners of vehicles parked on city streets impeding snow removal. Please keep parked vehicles out of the roadway so cities’ equipment can properly remove snow from the streets.

Possible Impaired Driver: A caller reported they had reason to believe an individual was driving after taking prescription medication. Officer’s later found the subject in their residence and did not appear to be impaired.

Agency Assist: A caller reported multiple individuals had been cutting and taking firewood from his property outside of city limits. The information was passed onto a State Trooper.

Hit & Run: A caller reported a parked RV and vehicle outside of their residence had been hit sometime that day and both had significant damage. This case is currently under investigation.
