The Upper Macungie Township Police Department, which began official patrol operations on December 31, 2012 is proud to provide professional, prompt, and progressive policing to the fine citizens of Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
A 30-man full-time police agency, The UMTPD structure consists of the Chief of Police (Edgardo A. Colón), a Deputy Chief of Police (Joseph B. Wilson), two lieutenants, six sergeants, three detectives, two K9 officers, one community service officer, and patrol staff. The department also employs a full time office manager and secretary.
Upper Macungie Township consists of a broad mix of residential, industrial, and commercial properties.
Being a patrol officer with the UMTPD is challenging, but rewarding. The ideal candidate will be honest, trustworthy, ethical, intelligent, and in top physical condition. Potential probationary officers will undergo a battery of tests that include a written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, polygraph examination, psychological examination, and medical evaluation. In addition, a rigorous background investigation will be conducted on all potential candidates.
