On January 8, 2016, at approximately 1:46 AM, PSPD Patrol Officers attempted a traffic stop on a suspected intoxicated driver, later identified as Suspect-Gilberto Hernandez, driving the wrong way in the area of South Indian Canyon Drive and Ramon Road. Hernandez failed to yield to marked patrol cars when officers attempted to stop him and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. Hernandez drove his off road equipped truck into the desert near La Mirada Drive and Belardo Road, in an attempt to escape officers but his vehicle became stuck.
