Homicide Victims Identified; Suspect Remanded to MYC

Updated Release on Jan.6, 2016:

Anchorage police have identified the two victims in last night’s double homicide at a South Anchorage residence as 40-year-old Shannon Duke (mother) and 18-year-old Chloe Duke (daughter). Next of kin have been notified.

On Tuesday, January 5, 2016 before 7:00 p.m. Anchorage police received a call from an adult male stating that he had just gotten home to his residence on the 3600 block of Spinnaker Drive and found his wife and daughter deceased inside. Police and medics responded to the scene and located two deceased females inside the home.

Further investigation found the deaths to be a result of a homicide; both victims had been fatally shot. A chevy truck belonging to one of the victims was missing from the residence. The vehicle was located just after 8:00 p.m. by Alaska State Troopers in the Valley. The vehicle was occupied by a 15-year-old male, who was a resident of the home where the homicide occurred.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, charges for the 15-year-old male suspect were referred to the Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice and the male was remanded to McLaughlin Youth Center. Due to the suspect’s age, the juvenile suspect cannot be identified by authorities.
