December 28th
Warrant Arrest- 700 block of Balra Dr:
At 0653 hours, a resident reported a male knocked on her front door and asked for someone who did not live there. An officer responded to the area and located the 32 year old male from Oakland wandering the area. The officer conducted a records check and discovered the male had an outstanding no bail warrant out of Alameda County. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Trespass -8600 block of Terrace Dr:
At 1108 hours, an officer was dispatched to the location for a 35 year old female who had been evicted from the residence the prior week. The female was located in the lower portion of the house. The owner of the house placed the female under citizen’s arrest. After booking, the female was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Mountain Lion Sighting-7700 block of Potrero Ave:
At 1000 hours, a citizen reported seeing a non aggressive mountain lion in the area. Officers responded to the area and did not locate the mountain lion. A Nixle alert was sent out and Animal Control was notified.
Auto Burglary- Wall St/Kearney St:
An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the passenger’s window of the victim’s vehicle and stole an Iphone 4s. The theft occurred in between 12/27@1030-12/28@1330 hours.
Auto Burglary- 6300 block of Conlon Ave:
A Community Service Officer reported an unknown suspect smashed out the right rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a pair of sunglasses. The theft occurred in between 12/27@2200-12/28@0945 hours.
Shoplifting – Target: 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1810 hours, an officer was on an unrelated traffic accident report at Safeway when he noticed a 29 year old male Richmond resident walking out of the store with a security guard following him. Upon seeing the officer the subject dropped his grocery bag of stolen groceries followed by security yelling at him to stop. He was detained without incident and found to have stolen merchandise. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.
December 29th
Driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage - I-80/Potrero Avenue:
At 0202 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation and arrested a 28 year old Richmond male for DUI during a traffic stop. The subject had a DUI warrant arrest from his last ECPD DUI arrest. He was booked and cited.
Traffic Pursuit – Potrero Avenue / San Pablo Avenue:
At 0209 hours, an officer attempted to stop a Ford for a vehicle code violation. The driver was a black male, black beanie cap and black jacket. The driver failed to yield and fled onto Interstate 80. The pursuit was cancelled due to the wanton disregard for public safety exhibited by the driver.
Warrant Arrest- 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0834 hours, an officer was patrolling in the area when he noticed a suspicious occupied vehicle in the Safeway lot and contacted the driver. The officer discovered the 39 year old male of Mountain View had an outstanding warrant. After booking, the male was issued a citation.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle-10843 San Pablo Ave:
At 1003 hours, a Community Service Officer checked on a vehicle that had been reported to the abandoned auto hotline and discovered it had been reported stolen to Berkeley PD on 11/17/15. The vehicle was a 1981 VW pick-up.
Stolen Vehicle-1300 Brewster Dr:
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s white 2011 Hyundai Tucson. The theft occurred on 12/29 @ 1030-1330 hours.
Warrant Arrest/Possession of a Fake ID-10869 San Pablo Ave:
At 1330 hours, an officer was patrolling in the area when he noticed a suspicious person. He conducted a pedestrian stop and contacted the 29 year old female. The officer conducted a records check and discovered the female had an outstanding warrant. During a search of the female, the officer located marijuana and two fake driver licenses in the female’s possession. The female was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the female was released on a citation.
Stolen Vehicle- 7600 block of Leviston Ave:
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s green 1998 Acura Integra. The theft occurred in between 12/28@2000-12/29@1100.
Bicycle Theft - Bed Bath and Beyond: 6000 EC Plaza:
At 1900 hours, an officer responded to the report of a bicycle theft. An unknown suspect stole an unsecured purple / gray, Liu brand Mountain Bicycle with 9 gears and a mud guard and rack behind the seat.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 7600 block of Leviston Ave:
At 2004 hours, an officer responded to recover a stolen Toyota Camry. A dayshift officer noticed the suspicious vehicle. He requested the law enforcement agency that holds jurisdiction where the registered owner lived to contact the owner and inquire into its status as it was not reported as stolen. The officer’s suspicions were confirmed and the vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
Shoplifting - Lucky’s: 1000 EC Plaza:
At 2157 hours, an officer responded to the report of a black male, approximately 40-50 years old, 5’05” thin build and wearing a yellow cap and green jacket, stealing a large quantity of meat from the store. He fled on a bicycle towards the BART station.
Shoplifting – Safeway: 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2206 hours, an officer was hailed by a security guard regarding a theft in progress at Safeway. The suspect, a 54 year old Richmond man was seen concealing a bottle of wine in his jacket and then bypassing all points of sale. When he realized the police were on scene, he hid in the bathroom. The subject is prohibited from being at Safeway as a clause of his probation. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 30th
Auto Burglary- 10760 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the front driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole CD’s. The theft occurred in between 12/29@1700 and 12/30@0800 hours.
Warrant Arrest- Stockton Ave / Terrace Dr:
At 1052 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a suspicious person. The subject, a 34 year old El Cerrito man was found to have a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.
Shoplifter with a warrant – CVS Pharmacy: 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1251 hours, CVS employees called and advised of two subjects inside the store were concealing merchandise in their backpacks and fleeing from the scene. Officers located the suspects, a 38 year old Oakland man and a 42 year old Oakland man walking southbound on the BART path near Waldo Lane. The merchandise was recovered and returned to the store. The store declined to prosecute the two subjects for the theft; however one of the subjects had a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Heroin Possession - San Pablo Ave/ Moeser Ln.
At 1343 hours, an officer contacted a 48 year old Martinez man during a suspicious vehicle check. He was found to be in possession of a small quantity of heroin. He was arrested, booked and booked into the Contra Costa County Detention Facility.
Auto Burglary – 5300 block of Potrero Avenue:
At 1859 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 0545 hours and 1800 hours, an unidentified suspect broke the window of the vehicle and rummaged through the interior.
Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2120 hours, an officer contacted a 39 year old Richmond woman while investigating a suspicious vehicle during a security check. She was found to have an outstanding theft warrant. She was arrested, booked and released on a citation.
December 31st
Driving under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - San Pablo Avenue / I-80 off ramp:
At 0122 hours, an officer contacted a 62 year old Berkeley man during a traffic stop and determined he was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked and released on a citation to a sober associate.
Driving under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - San Pablo Ave. / Moeser Lane:
At 0142 hours, an officer contacted a 39 year old Richmond man during a traffic stop and determined he was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked and released on a citation to a sober associate.
Driving under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - Barrett Ave / Yuba Dr:
At 0256 hours, an officer contacted a 30 year old Richmond man during a traffic stop and determined he was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked and released on a citation to a sober associate.
Under the Influence of a controlled substance – Drug paraphernalia possession – Resisting Arrest – 11299 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0713 hours, an officer observed a subject acting erratically and running in and out of traffic. The subject, a 48 year old transient man was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was also in possession of a methamphetamine smoking pipe. The subject then ran from uniformed officers and was taken into custody a short distance away. During booking, it was determined that the man met the criteria for a mental health evaluation and was transported to the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center in Martinez.
Warrant Arrest – 3100 block of Yosemite Ave:
At 1035 hours, officers responded to the report of an unwanted subject. The subject, a 25 year old transient male was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.
Residential Burglary - 1000 block of Liberty St.:
An officer responded to the report of an unknown suspect kicking in the front door of the victim’s apartment to gain entry. The burglary occurred between 1000 -1100 hours. The suspect ransacked the residence and stole property.
Methamphetamine Possession – 10621 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1939 hours an officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 48 year old Richmond man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.
Unlicensed Driver - Central Avenue / Oak Street:
At 0144 hours, an officer stopped a vehicle driven by a 15 year old male juvenile from Oakland, a 13 year old girl and four other 15 year old male juveniles. The vehicle belonged to the girl’s father and she took the car without his knowledge. The juvenile’s parents responded and the collected their children. The driver was cited for driving without a license.
Driving under the Influence of an alcoholic beverage - San Pablo Avenue / Van Fleet Ave:
At 0233 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 24 year old Richmond man for DUI. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation to a sober associate.
Driving under the Influence of an alcoholic beverage - San Pablo Ave / Potrero Avenue:
At 0315 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a Vallejo woman for DUI. She was arrested, booked and released to a sober associate.
Outside Agency Assist - 90 block of Franciscan Way:
At 0445 hours, an officer responded to assist the solo on duty Kensington police officer with a disturbance call. One of the parties, a heavily intoxicated 21 year old San Pablo woman spit on the El Cerrito officer. She was arrested for battery on a police officer and DUI.
January 1st
Warrant arrest – 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 1113 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 54-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Violation of custody order – 10900 San Pablo Ave:
A 32-year-old Berkeley woman failed to show up and perform a custody exchange with their child’s father. Attempts to contact the woman met with negative results.
Grand theft – 800 block of Arlington Blvd:
Between 12/31/15 at 2000 hours and 1/1/16 at 1534 hours, an unknown suspect stole two large porcelain statues from the victim’s front yard.
Warrant arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1623 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 69-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2133 hours, an officer responded to a suspicious person call and arrested a 51 year man from Berkeley on a no cite Alameda County FTA warrant. He went to MDF.
Evading – Cutting Blvd / Peerless Ave:
At 0124 hours, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle westbound Cutting Blvd at Peerless Ave at a high rate of speed. He caught up to the vehicle, a white Lexus 2-Door, near Cutting Blvd and S. 41st Street and conducted a records check which reveled the registration was also expired. The Lexus then failed to stop at the DUI checkpoint and continued westbound. A traffic stop was attempted near Cutting and S. 39th Street and the vehicle fled westbound Cutting Blvd to northbound Carlson Blvd. The pursuit was cancelled on Carlson Blvd near Broadway/S. 23rd Street.
January 2nd
Vandalism – 10500 block of San Pablo Ave:
10572 San Pablo Ave. An unknown suspect used an unknown tool to break the front door glass. The glass remained intact and no entry was made.
Petty theft from auto, Vehicle tampering – 5500 block of Poinsett Ave:
Between 1/1/16 at 2130 hours to 1/2/16 at 0700 hours, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a house key. It appears the suspect also attempted to start the victim’s vehicle because the ignition was disabled by the vehicles security features.
Grand theft – 4010 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1245 hours, an unknown suspect entered AT&T and stole two display phones. The suspect then fled in a dark colored SUV. The suspect is described as a black female in her early 20’s, 5’6, 120, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black scarf on her head.
Vandalism – 1400 block of S. 56th St:
Between 0300 and 1230 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the windows of two vehicles.
Petty theft – 3090 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1430 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s tablet from a table while the victim was in line for her coffee. The suspect is described as a white male adult, 18 years old, 5’10, 130, wearing a red and black sweatshirt, and grey and black sweatpants.
Shoplifting – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2103 hours, an officer accepted the citizen arrest of a 24 year old man from Richmond after he selected $182 worth of merchandise and left without paying. He was released after booking.
January 3rd
Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0735 hours, an officer contacted a suspicious person. The subject, a 24 year old Salinas woman was wanted on three misdemeanor warrants from Napa County. She was arrested, booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.
Vandalism - 1700 bock of Lexington Ave:
At 1005 hours, an officer responded to the report of two vehicles whose windshield had been smashed and paint scratched. The damage occurred the previous night at 1700 hours by a known suspect.
Petty Theft - 1811 Elm St:
At 1457 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft of an ornamental Buddha statute. The theft occurred in between 01-01-2016 at 1700 hours and 01-02-2016 at 1450 hours.
DUI – I-80 Highway on Ramp / Cutting Blvd:
At 2251 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 67 year old male driver from Oakland for DUI. He was released on a citation.
Warrant – San Pablo Ave/ Stockton Ave:
At 2306 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 48 year old female from Fresno on a no cite Fresno County warrant. She was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
January 4th
Auto Burglary – 600 block of Clayton Ave:
The back door to a van was pried open and a leaf blower and other landscaping tools were stolen in between 1800 hours on 01/03/2016 and 01/04/2016 0930 hours.
Check Forgery - Wells Fargo 9800 San Pablo Ave: An officer initiated an investigation into a series of check cashing fraud at Wells Fargo.
Check Forgery - Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1342 hours, an officer responded to the report of two known suspects attempting to cash fraudulent checks at the US Bank.
Auto Burglary - 11545 San Pablo Ave:
At 1430 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. The victim left her IPhone in plain view in her car and returned to find the window broken and her phone gone.
Possess Controlled Substance, Suspended License – El Dorado St / San Pablo Ave:
At 1915 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 38 year old male from Vallejo for possession of methamphetamines and driving on a suspended license. He was booked and released on a citation.
Possess Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave / Madison Ave:
At 0039 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 55 year old female from Richmond for possession of methamphetamines. She was booked and released on a citation.
