On 12/31/15 Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and Special Operation Team of the Fairfield Police Department served a search warrant at the home of Eric Hankins, a science teacher at Fairfield High School. The search warrant, and subsequent arrest of Mr. Hankins, came as a result of an ongoing investigation into allegations that he was having an inappropriate relationship on campus with a 14 year old student.
The possible relationship was first brought to the attention of the Fairfield Police Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District earlier in December. At that time Mr. Hankins was placed on administrative leave while the investigation continued.
Eric Hankins, a 27 year old Fairfield resident was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of Lewd and Lascivious Behavior with a Child 14 years or younger. No information will be released about the victim due to the minor's age.
