state law on fireworks supersedes local noise ordinance
Just because you can doesn't mean that you have to...
Per state law, it is legal to explode fireworks until 2:00AM on New Years. This supersedes local noise ordinances. There is absolutely, positively nothing that we can do to make your neighbors stop shooting off fireworks until 2:00AM.
We sympathize and empathize with those negatively impacted by this. On July 4th, my own neighbors didn't stop until 12:51AM.
To those planning to shoot fireworks tonight, we ask you to be respectful of your neighbors. Note, we are asking. We aren't telling as we legally can't tell you to exhibit basic human decency.
If you decide to shoot fireworks right up to the 2:00AM cutoff, don't be upset when your neighbors surround your house with leaf blowers, chain saws, and an army of eight year olds with drum sets at 7:00AM the next morning.
