Prevent from being a victim:

Park in your garage. If you can't do that, park in your driveway and use motion sensor lights to illuminate the exterior of your home. They are inexpensive and easy to install. Always use a car alarm along with a "Club" or other steering wheel locking device.

Never leave property/packages of any kind visible in your vehicle.

Park your vehicle in well lit areas. When in a public parking lot/facility, park directly under lights or well lit areas. Park near entrances/exits and/or stairwells/elevators where there will be a lot of foot traffic.

have your keys out and ready when you approach your vehicle. Be aware of your surroundings. If you notice someone watching or following you, return to whatever store/location you are patronizing. Call the police using a non-emergent line or, have security walk you to your car.
