December 22nd
Residential Burglary-500 Block of Kearney St.
An officer reported an unknown suspect kicked in the side door of the residence to gain entry. No property loss reported. The burglary occurred on 12/22@1150 hours.
Battery/Warrant Arrest-800 Block of Pomona Ave.
Officers were dispatched to the location for a battery/dispute detail. The victim called and reported her son had pushed her and she wanted him to leave the residence. Upon arrival, officers located the 29 year old male resident of Oakland. Officers conducted a records check and discovered the male had an outstanding warrant. Officers took the male into custody for the outstanding warrant. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Residential Burglary- 1300 Devonshire Ct.
An officer reported that an unknown suspect smashed the window of the victim’s front door to gain entry and stole electronics. The burglary occurred in between 12/18@0830-12/22@1225 hours.
Shoplifting and Warrant Arrest: 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway)
At 1916 hours, an officer reports an arrest of a 38 year old male after the male entered the business and attempted to leave the business without paying for the items. The male was taken into custody, booked and then cited.
Shoplifting: 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway)
At 1916 hours, an officer reports the arrest of a 35 year old female after she entered the business and concealed items in a bag. The female then attempted to leave the store without paying. The female was booked and then cited out.
Auto Burglary: 5801 Cutting Boulevard (Sketchers)
At 1814 hours, an officer reports that an unknown suspect shattered a window to the victim’s vehicle and removed a purse from the interior.
False information to Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Warrant Arrest: San Pablo Avenue and Cutting Boulevard
At 0039 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 41 year old male, after the male was found to be in possession of a pipe used to smoke narcotics. During booking it was discovered that the driver had given a false name and after fingerprinting the male it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The male was also a convicted felon and was in possession of live ammunition and a replica pistol. The male was booked and then transported to county jail.
Possession of a Controlled Substance: Moeser Lane and Kearney Street
At 0237 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested a 34 year old male for being possession of a controlled substance. The male was booked and then released on a citation.
December 23rd
Warrant Arrest-5200 Block of Gordon Ave.
At 1043 hours, officers received information that the resident at this location had an active warrant. Officers responded to the location and located the 28 year old male. The male was taken into custody without incident. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 24th
In-custody Shoplifter- 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1112 hours, an officer responded to Safeway for a shoplifter in-custody shoplifting detail. Upon arrival, the officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 27 year resident of San Francisco. The male was detained by loss prevention agents after he attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police department and issued a citation.
In-Custody Shoplifter-11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1311 hours, an officer responded to Safeway in regards to a female being detained by loss prevention agents for shoplifting. Upon arrival, the officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 58 year old female resident of San Pablo for Petty Theft. The female was transported to the El Cerrito Police booked. After booking, the female was released on a citation.
DUI Arrest: Moeser Lane and Elm Street:
At 0110 hours, an officer reports the arrest of a 49 year old male after the male was found to be driving under the influence. The male was booked and then released on a citation.
December 25th
Stolen license plates, Recovered license plates – 1400 block of Richmond St.
A victim awoke to find his license plate stolen and replaced with another stolen license plate. The other license plate was from a stolen vehicle from Marin County.
Recovered stolen vehicle – Kearney St. / Stockton Ave.
An officer located a 1997 Honda Odyssey van that had been reported stolen to the El Cerrito Police Department on 11/11/15.
Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Yield – Potrero Avenue / Eastshore Blvd:
At 2247 hours, an officer located an occupied stolen 1996 blue Honda Civic. The Honda was reported stolen to Oakland Police on 12/22/15. He followed the vehicle to S. 49th Street and State Avenue where a second officer caught up to them and a traffic stop was attempted. The Honda continued northbound S. 49th Street and then made a quick right, eastbound, onto Plaza Way, where the driver failed to negotiate the turn and collided with a tree in the center median and the Honda became high centered. The 18 year old male driver from San Francisco was arrested and transported to MDF.
December 26th
Mental health evaluation – Fairmount Ave. / Liberty St.
At 0903 hours, an officer observed a 30-year-old Richmond man running in the middle of the street, yelling profanities at the sky. The officer conducted a pedestrian stop and contacted the man. The man displayed erratic behavior and was verbally assaultive to officers. The man stated that he had not taken his psychotropic medication. The man was committed for a 72-hour psychiatric hold and transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Warrant arrest – S. 45th St. / Cutting Blvd.
At approximately 1520 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 32-year-old Richmond woman for an outstanding warrant. The woman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
DUI – 800 block Shevlin Drive:
At 1744 hours, an officer arrested a 57 year old female from El Cerrito for DUI after a passerby called and reported her as a possible intoxicated driver. She was cited and released.
DUI – San Pablo Avenue / Madison Avenue:
At 0140 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 23 year old male driver from Oakland for DUI. He was cited and released.
December 27th
Mental health evaluation – 11101 San Pablo Ave.
Officers were dispatched to the business a 55-year-old transient woman struck a customer and yelled profanities at the restaurant staff. The woman was located walking northbound on San Pablo Ave. in the number 2 lane. When officers contacted her, she darted to the center median and attempted to evade officers. The woman was removed from the roadway and found to be suffering a psychotic break. The woman was committed for a 72-hour psychiatric hold and transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Shoplift – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1140 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 45-year-old Oakland man after he entered the store, placed merchandise into his backpack, and left without paying. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.
Robbery – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 1245 hours, officers were dispatched to the business after a suspect brandished a firearm at loss prevention officers. The investigation revealed that a suspect stole merchandise from the business. When loss prevention agents contacted him to affect an arrest, he brandished a firearm at them. The suspect fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male adult, dark complexion, 5’10, 200 lbs., wearing a black puffy jacket, black beanie, dark pants, and teal shoes.
Driving under the influence – 10400 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1525 hours, officers received a call of an intoxicated man trying to drive away from the bar. Officers arrived and found the man in the parking lot, backing out of a stall. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 55-year-old Pinole man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative.
Shoplift – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1758 hours, ECPD accepted the citizen arrest of a 37 year old female from San Pablo for stealing $146 in groceries. She was released on a citation.
Auto Burglary – 2200 block Key Blvd:
At 2322 hours, officers responded to an interrupted auto burglary. The suspect broke the victim’s vehicle’s window and stole an iPod and was chased off by the victim south on Key Blvd. The suspect left his vehicle, a red Toyota Camry, behind at the scene running. The vehicle was registered to a 20 year old Richmond man. A short time later, the registered owner called police out of breath and claimed his Camry was stolen an hour earlier from Denny’s. The man matched the suspect’s description and was positively identified as the suspect during an in-field show up. He was also in possession of the victim’s iPod and a window punch. Broken auto glass was also found in his pocket. He was arrested, booked, and transported to MDF.
