HMPD Officers arrest man for vehicle break-ins.
On Monday, December 21, 2015, at approximately 1:30am, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the area of Notblake Drive in reference to a subject breaking into vehicles. Upon arrival, Officers learned from witnesses that the suspect had departed the area in a silver Cadillac. Approximately 30 minutes later, Officers located the suspect vehicle and the suspect, John Davis Owen, 43, of the 2000 block of Jason Road, Parkton in the area of the Camden Road and Rockfish Road intersection. Upon making contact with Owen, Officers placed him under arrest and recovered the stolen property from his vehicle. During the course of their investigation, Officers found that Owen had outstanding warrants for his arrest and, that he was suspected of committing other thefts in Hoke County and Hope Mills earlier in the evening. Owen was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $25,000.00 bond for the following charges:
5 counts of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle
4 counts of Misdemeanor Larceny
3 counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods
This investigation is ongoing and, more charges against Owen for other offenses are likely.
