Update LASD Armed Barricaded Suspect, 40900 blk 161st St. East, Lake Los Angeles

At approximately 6:23 p.m. today, 35 year-old Juan Sandoval was successfully convinced to peaceably surrender by LASD Crisis Negotiation Team personnel after an extensive and constant effort lasting approximately six hours.

The suspect, who had barricaded himself inside a residence on the 40900 block of 161^st Street East, Lake Los Angeles, refused to allow four family members exit after deputies responded to a family disturbance call at approximately 8:30 a.m.

LASD Special Enforcement Bureau Special Weapons Team personnel additionally responded in a collaborative effort to assist in the peaceful resolution.

After the suspect surrendered, he was taken into custody.

Neither the suspect, family members, nor deputies were injured during the incident.

Neighboring residents were able to safely return to their homes.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.

UNIT: Special Enforcement Bureau

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Special Weapons Team has responded to the 40900 block of 161^st Street East, Lake Los Angeles, to assist Lancaster Station deputies regarding an Armed Barricaded Suspect.

SEB deputies have assumed command of the tactical response and Crisis Negotiation Team personnel are making attempts to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.

Surrounding homes have been evacuated for the safety of the residents.

Captain Reed and Sergeant Boese, Sheriff’s Information Bureau, will be available for media interviews (including interviews in Spanish).
