Advisory

BE CAUTIOUS OF A PUBLISHERS CLEARING HOUSE SCAM .

The St. Louis Police Department has been notified of a Publishers Clearing House scam. A St. Louis Resident has received a letter from Publishers Clearinghouse stating that they have won a large sum of money. Included with the letter was a check to cover insurance and attorney fees.

We have verified that the letter and the check are both fraudulent. The banking information has been stolen from a legitimate company located in Indiana and is being used on the fake/fraudulent checks. The language used in the letter attached to the check is a reproduction of actual notices that have been sent out by Publishers Clearing House.

If you have received one of these letters DO NOT CASH THE CHECK. Destroy the check.

You do not need to notify the St. Louis Police Department.
