Threat Via Text Leads to Day-Closure of Antelope Valley Comm. College #Lancaster #LASD

On Monday, November 30, 2015, at approximately 11:50PM, Palmdale Sheriff’s Station received multiple calls from students who attend Antelope Valley Community College (AVC). The students all received the same text message from an unknown individual. The text message made a vague threat and told the students to stay home from school.

Lancaster Sheriff Station was notified of the incident and immediately started an investigation. The investigation lead to the closure of the college at the start of the day as additional resources were assigned to investigate the threat and ensure a safe campus.

At this time, deputies do not believe the threats to be credible, but are still taking them seriously and will continue to investigate.  Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased presence on both the Lancaster and Palmdale campuses.

Antelope Valley Community College will open for its night classes beginning at 6:00 PM tonight.

We ask if you see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary to contact Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at (661) 948-8466 or Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at (661) 272-2400, or if you wish to remain Anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), or text the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637,) or using the website
