The Upper Macungie Township Police Department has an important message for you! *Message from the Chief of Police*

A special Thanksgiving message from Edgardo A. Colón, Chief of Police:

On behalf of Upper Macungie Township and the men and women of the Upper Macungie Township Police Department, I’d like to wish our residents, visitors and all citizens a Happy, Healthy and Safe Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving is a time to join with family and friends and give thanks for the blessings and freedoms that we enjoy every day. We are thankful for our supportive community and so appreciative of the opportunity to serve you as your police department.

This holiday is one of the most heavily traveled throughout the year so please make sure you Buckle-Up while on your journey.

This holiday is also known for increased crashes, injuries and fatalities due to impaired drivers, so please keep this in mind and travel safely. If alcohol figures into your Thanksgiving activities, please plan to have a designated driver.

I would also like to thank all the vigilant Nixle subscribers for being dedicated to supporting the department and keeping our great community safe. Please pass the word to your friends and neighbors who may benefit from our communications. Without our subscribers, Nixle fails…

Lastly, keep your ear to the ground for a presentation for residents about the Good Neighbor Coalition. This innovative program, with a focus on safety, was launched by the UMTPD to bring together businesses, residents and the trucking industry to address some of the issues associated with commercial motor vehicle commerce throughout Upper Macungie Township and the surrounding communities. A public presentation of the program will be held in January.

With sincere appreciation,

Edgardo A. Colón
