Early Morning Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Property Arrest:

On 11-23-15, at approximately 7:56 a.m. Ripon Police Department officer Paul Staley observed a suspicious vehicle repeatedly driving through the parking lot of the Grace Brethren Church (734 W. Main St.) Officer Staley was specifically watching this area, as part of the departments continued efforts to address vehicle burglaries in the downtown area. A traffic stop was conducted on the Main Street over cross. The driver was identified and he was found to be driving on a suspended drivers license.

During the stop, officers located marijuana in the vehicle, along with a number of purses and wallets. One unique, exclusive purse, matched the exact description of a purse that was stolen from a vehicle behind the Grace Brethren Church on 09-25-15.

Members of Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U) immediately assisted with the investigation. The unique, exclusive purse was personally identified by the victim.

Juan Miguel Alvarez-Salgado (25) of Ceres, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail regarding possession of stolen property.

Ripon S.I.U. detectives are working on several parallel investigations as a result of this arrest and property seizure. Contact Info:
