The Rosemont Public Safety Department is expecting extremely heavy traffic in the River Road corridor between Devon Ave. on the North and Lawrence Ave. on the South. The Donald E Stephens Convention Center is hosting the “Fanatics Authentic Sports Spectacular” on Sunday. The shows are open to the public and have traditionally drawn heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic to the area. In addition, The Rosemont Theater will be hosting, “The Steve Martin and Martin Short National Tour” at 7:00 PM on Sunday with doors opening at 6:00 PM.
The combination of normal weekend traffic in addition to the large number of attendees at the various shows taking place in the area, has prompted the Public Safety Department to issue this Traffic Alert. The Department is expecting long travel times and heavy congestion in the area. Motorists not attending events along the River Rd. corridor are recommended to find alternative routes around the Rosemont area. Motorists attending events in Rosemont should allow themselves plenty of extra travel time.
