-IMPD investigating a person shot on the 9200 block of N. Michigan Road.
INDIANAPOLIS–Today at approximately 8:28 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to the 9200 block of W. Michigan Road on a report of a person shot. When officer arrived they discovered an unidentified male subject with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. EMS officials arrived a short time later and transported the victim to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.
IMPD Aggravated Assault detectives responded to the scene and learned that the victim later identified as Richard Scroggins of Indianapolis was shot by an unknown male in dark clothingl. Mr. Scroggins stated he was having relations with a female who later identified herself as a prostitute. Mr. Scroggins said she demanded money at which time he refused. Mr. Scroggins left the hotel room and came in contact with an unknown male who intentionally fired shots at Mr. Scroggins in the outside parking lot of the hotel.
Mr. Scroggins while dressed in only under garments, flagged a box truck driver down and jumped inside his cab. The driver took the victim to an area gas station and alerted police. It should be noted that Mr. Scroggins has several confirmed warrants out of Marion Indiana ranging from strangulation, criminal mischief, and criminal recklessness. Once Mr. Scroggins is medically evaluated he will be transported to the APC.
