3rd UPDATE #LASD - 3 Arrests Made in the Murder of Downey PD Officer Ricardo Galvez
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Investigators have arrested three individuals for the murder of Downey P.D. Officer Ricardo Galvez.
After shooting Officer Galvez, the suspects drove away, but were pursued by a Downey Police officer in a marked black and white patrol car. The suspects ultimately drove to the 1000 block of Carob Way in the city of Montebello, where they exited their car and fled on foot.
The driver, a male Hispanic 21 years old, was caught by officers trying to run through some residential backyards. The other two suspects were seen fleeing into a nearby home. Members of the Sheriff’s Department’s Special Weapons Team ultimately made entry into the home and detained the suspects, a male Hispanic 16 years old and a male Hispanic 18 years old.
During their investigation, investigators located a handgun which had been discarded by the suspects. It is believed this handgun is the one that was used to shoot and kill Officer Galvez. Additional investigation revealed that the murder of Officer Galvez appears to be a botched robbery attempt.
All three suspects were booked for murder and are currently being held with no bail. Due to this being an ongoing active investigation, the names of the suspect are not currently being released.
