SHOOTING SUSPECTS CONVICTED
Ripon Ca. – 06-09-15 a shooting occurred near the downtown area in Ripon. At that time the victim received serious, non-life threatening injuries.
On 08-21-15, detectives with Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Manteca-Ripon SWAT Team served search and arrest warrants at a residence in Riverbank. During the warrant service detectives arrested Donovyn Hooper George (30) of Riverbank. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on multiple felony charges.
On 08-22-15, Modesto Police Officers assisted Ripon detectives by locating a second suspect wanted in connection to the June shooting. Detectives with Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit responded to the scene and Cody Stephen Lewis (24) of Modesto was taken into custody. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on multiple felony charges.
Today, Donovyn Hooper George (31) of Riverbank was sentenced to 7 years in state prison regarding felony charges that included assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) with a criminal street gang enhancement.
His accomplice, Cody Stephen Lewis (25) of Modesto received a 3 year stayed prison sentence regarding the charge of being an accessory to the crime.
