On 11/13/2015 Officer Drew Severson completed 6 weeks of police K9 handler training at Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. This kennel supplies dogs for the military, federal agencies, and law enforcement agencies throughout the country. During that training, Officer Severson received and trained the newest Janesville Police Department canine, Fred. K9 Fred is a 1 ½ year old German Shepard/Belgian Malinois mix. Both were trained in drug detection, tracking, and criminal apprehension. Officer Severson and K9 Fred are assigned to second shift patrol.
