Public Service Announcement from the Farmington Hills Police Department: Tips on Preventing Vehicle Break-Ins

Recently, an out of state group known for breaking into cars and stealing valuables left in plain sight has been targeting communities, including Farmington Hills, throughout south eastern Michigan. This group, known locally as the "Felony Lane Gang", was in Michigan approximately one year ago. After several arrests of its members however, the group left our area.

Currently, although thefts can occur anywhere, the group seems to be targeting day care centers and they strike during the short time when the parents are inside dropping off their children. When valuables are left in sight, members of the group break the car window, steal the valuables, and flee before the owner returns to the car.

The Farmington Hills Police Department would like to remind residents to always lock vehicles when left unattended, and to remove all valuables from plain sight within the vehicle. If you observe any suspicious activity, please dial 9-1-1. If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Farmington Hills Police Department non-emergency line at (248) 871-2610.
