Grand Haven Department of Public Safety News Release - Grand Haven Pier to Close in Advance of Storm.

Grand Haven Department of Public Safety News Release

"Grand Haven Pier to Close in Advance of Storm"

Based on information from multiple weather sources, the Grand Haven Pier will be close tonight beginning at 10pm.

Barricades will be placed and personnel from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety will be monitoring the pier and weather conditions.

If severe conditions don't materialize or conditions improve, the pier will be re-opened.

Director of Public Safety Jeff Hawke said, "With some forecasts calling for unprecedented 20 foot waves near shore, it is better to be proactive than reactive in this situation."

With high winds possible, the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety reminds residents on Harbor Drive and North Shore Drive to secure outdoor items on the lake side of their homes.
