October 30th

Auto burglary – 9895 San Pablo Ave.
Between 0700 and 0705 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the victim’s vehicle window and stole a backpack containing a laptop and cell phone.

Auto burglary – Carlson Blvd. / San Pablo Ave.
Between 0700 and 0705 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the victim’s vehicle window and stole a backpack containing food and clothing.

Warrant arrest – 11555 San Pablo Ave.
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 29-year-old San Francisco man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – Carlson Blvd / Sacramento Ave
At 0315 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 37 year old Oakland man on a Nevada County traffic warrant. He was cited and released.

October 31st

Public intoxication – BART Path / Hill St.
An officer was dispatched for a man down on the BART Path near Hill St. The officer arrived to find a heavily intoxicated 25-year-old transient man. The man was arrested for public intoxication and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. Following booking, the man was released to a sober family member.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd.
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement and arrested the passenger, a 34-year-old Martinez man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Eastshore Blvd.
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested 46-year-old Hercules man for several outstanding warrants. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – 6500 Gladys Ave
At 1848 hours, an officer responded to a disturbance and arrested a 51 year old male Oakland resident on a no cite Alameda County Warrant. He was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Domestic Battery – San Pablo Ave / Potrero Ave
A male and female with a child in common were passing through El Cerrito when an argument turned physical. A 32 year old female Richmond resident was identified as the dominant aggressor after she struck her child’s father in the face during an argument. She was arrested, booked, and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle (Recovery) – S 55th St / School Ave
At 0118 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a green 1994 Toyota Truck and learned the truck was reported stolen to RPD on 10/29/15. The driver, a 41 year old male from Pinole was arrested, booked, and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

November 1st

Driving under the influence, Vehicle collision – San Pablo Ave. / Central Ave.
Officers were dispatched to a 3-car collision. During the investigation, one of the drivers was found to be intoxicated. A 47-year-old El Cerrito man was arrested as a result. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative.

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave. / Potrero Avenue.
At 2250 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver, a 56 year old Richmond resident was wanted on a no-cite misdemeanor warrant from Marin County. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility

November 2nd

Robbery/Burglary/Battery on a Police Officer/Dog/ Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Walgreens.
At 0715 hours, the El Cerrito Police Department received a call about a suspicious person at the Walgreens store located at 11565 San Pablo Avenue. The caller, a customer, said that a man armed with an axe was trying to get into the pharmacy. Officers responded to the store and learned that the suspect entered the store, brandished the axe at employees and told them not to call the police. The employees fled the store while the suspect used his axe (or a hatchet due to its size) to break into the pharmacy office, which was not yet open for business.

Officers discovered that the suspect smashed through the glass pharmacy door and blocked the entrance behind him with a very large computer server tower. Officers tried to convince the suspect to surrender, to no avail. Officers learned that the suspect was actively ingesting a sizable quantity of pharmaceutical drugs, while inside. After clearing the blocked door, officers entered the pharmacy and discovered that the suspect locked himself in a restroom. Again, the suspect did not respond to officer commands to surrender. Officers entered the bathroom, confronted the suspect, and attempted to arrest him. During the struggle, the suspect hit an officer and a police canine. After he was detained, officers discovered that the suspect was bleeding from injuries he sustained when he shattered the glass door to the pharmacy. He was also suffering from ingesting an unknown quantity of pharmaceutical drugs. Officers called for an ambulance and escorted him to an area hospital for treatment. No police department personnel were injured during the arrest.

The El Cerrito Police Department has identified the suspect as Edward Barron, 29 years of age. The department is looking for additional information about Mr. Barron. Anyone with information regarding his identity is urged to contact the El Cerrito Police at (510) 215-4400. The El Cerrito Police Department is pursuing charges for Robbery, Burglary, battery on a police officer and police dog, resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Auto Burglary – 9895 San Pablo Ave.
A Community Service Officer reported that an unknown suspect smashed the window to the victim’s vehicle and stole property. The theft occurred between 0640 hours and 0645 hours.

Residential Burglary – 5300 block of Cypress Ave.
At 2326 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. In between 0930 hours and 2320 hours, a suspect kicked the front door of a residence, leaving a foot print on the front door. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry, cash and electronics. The suspect left behind a bicycle containing a bag of Cheetos and an orange soda with receipt from Safeway in the backyard. On November 3rd, the officer followed up at Safeway and watched the video surveillance of the transaction documented on the receipt. As the officer left the store, he observed the suspect, a 27 year old Richmond resident from the video in the parking lot, still wearing the same distinct clothing and shoes that matched the print on the door. The suspect was arrested for the burglary and a parole violation. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

November 3rd

Recovered Stolen Vehicle- 1000 Liberty Ct.
At 1214 Hours, a Community Service Officer was dispatched to an abandoned auto that was reported in by a citizen. During a records check of the license plate, he discovered the Ford pick-up had been reported stolen to the Richmond PD on 10/16/15.

Grand Theft – Pete’s Coffee 9895 San Pablo Avenue.
At 1715 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen bicycle. The victim left his $1500 bicycle unsecured in front of the business. A school resource officer (SRO) responded to the scene and located an abandoned bicycle that he had noticed a juvenile riding earlier. The SRO located the juvenile, a 14 year old High School student riding nearby. The juvenile was detained and released to his parents and the bicycle was returned to its grateful owner.

Minor Injury Collision 1300 block of Richmond Street.
At 1824 hours, an officer responded to the report of a southbound motorist sideswiping two parked cars. A woman suffered minor injuries and was to the Hospital.

Elder Abuse - 11450 San Pablo Avenue.
At 1903 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft of a wallet from an elderly woman’s purse. The victim was in her 90’s. A witness followed the suspect and confronted her and was able to recover some of her property. Responding officers located the suspect, a 33 year old Richmond woman who apparently had returned to the store. She was found to be in possession of the victim’s wallet. The suspect was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Theft – Staples: 11545 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2048 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft a laptop computer. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, 5’10” tall, medium build, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black Chicago Bulls baseball cap. He cut a laptop off the display in front of the employee.

November 4th

Stolen Vehicle - 900 Block of Kearney Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s blue 2004 GMC Envoy between 11/2@2200 to 11/3@0900 hours.

Theft from Vehicle - 5300 Rosalind Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred between 11/3@2130 hours and 11/4@ 0230 hours.

Battery-IFO 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 1546 hours, officers responded to Luckys for a fight in progress. During an argument the suspect, a 57 year old male from San Francisco pushed and punched the victim. The suspect was located inside Luckys and placed under Citizen’s Arrest after an infield show-up. The suspect was transported to the El Cerrito PD for booking and released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – Home Depot 11939 San Pablo Avenue.
At 2217 hours, officers responded to the report of a vehicle theft in progress in the garden center parking lot of Home Depot. Employees reported that the suspect, later identified as a 38 year old transient man trying to hot wire a Ford F150. When officers arrived, the suspect fled a short distance up the embankment where he was taken into custody. He had been busily applying tint to the windows and interior lights and had spray painted the truck. The Ford, whose ignition was destroyed, was previously reported stolen to the San Mateo PD and also has stolen license plates in the bed. The suspect also had a warrant for burglary from Daly City and was on Alameda County probation for burglary. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility

November 5th

Strong Arm Robbery-Central Ave@ Clayton Ave.
At 1242 hours, an officer reported the victim was walking in the area and was approached by the suspect, who grabbed her backpack. The victim resisted and did not let go of her backpack. The suspect punched the victim several times and attempted to get into an awaiting vehicle. The victim let go of her backpack when the driver of the vehicle sped off.

Disorderly Conduct (Public Intoxication) Atlas Liquors – 11382 San Pablo Ave:
At 1946 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject checking car doors on Blake Street. The officer located the subject, a 31 year old El Cerrito man at Atlas Liquors. He was found to be intoxicated (almost four times the legal limit to operate a vehicle.) He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Disorderly Conduct (Public Intoxication) & Probation Violation - Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 2008 hours, an officer responded to the report of an unwanted subject. The officer located the subject, a 46 year old Richmond man drinking an alcoholic beverage in the café inside the store. He was found to be heavily intoxicated and in violation of his court ordered probation that precludes him from being at Safeway. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0106 hours, an officer contacted a group of loiterers at Safeway. One of the subjects, a 33 year old Richmond man was arrested on an ECPD misdemeanor theft warrant stemming from one of his previous theft arrests at Safeway. He was booked and released on a citation.
