INCIDENT: Internal Revenue Service Telephone Scam

LOCATION: Morongo Basin

SUSPECT(S): Unknown

SUMMARY:
Over the last week, citizens of the Morongo Basin have been receiving automated telephone calls from a Washington DC area code. The message informs you the IRS is going to file a law suit against you and asks you to call a telephone number for more information. The IRS is not making these calls, please do not call them back and do not send them any money. The IRS will correspond with you via US Mail, usually certified. There are many phone scams similar to this. If any unknown person requests you to send money, you can contact the Sheriff's Department to check their validity.

If you have internet access you can google telephone numbers and the scams will be shown.
