Victim of apparent suicide found near the sidewalk of 5th Ave and I Street.

Today CVPD officers responded to a report by a Chula Vista Mall security officer of a male down near the CV Mall. Medic's pronounced the male deceased and police officers conducted a suspicious death investigation. Preliminary indications are the elderly male committed suicide with a handgun possibly due to heath conditions. The San Diego Medical Examiner responded and took custody of the victim. Identification and notification are pending.
