Advisory

Press Release - Robbery, Criminal Threats, Battery, Preventing Call for Assistance by Wireless Device.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at approximately 4:00 PM, Corcoran Police Officers were dispatched to the Corcoran Rite Aid regarding an assault and a robbery. Victims at the Rite Aid told officers a dark complected male adult entered the store and was yelling profanity and religious quotes at the employees and customers. When employees told the subject they were calling the police, the suspect physically attempted to take the phone from the employee, knocking her to the ground.

When another employee came to the first employee’s assistance, he too was assaulted by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene on a bicycle, but was followed by witnesses who notified police. The witnesses followed the suspect to the Square Deal Market and witnessed the suspect knocking over items off of shelves inside the store.

The suspect left the Square Deal Market where he was followed to the area of North and Estes Avenues where Corcoran Officers confronted him. The suspect began yelling, “Allahu Akbar” and began shouting for the officers to shoot him while reaching into his waistband. The suspect then withdrew a cellular phone and told officers he was going to detonate a bomb. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and he was identified as Kaden Stephens.

The suspect was booked into the Kings County Jail and held on $160,000 bail.
