On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner – Coroner’s office identified the body which was buried under several feet of mud, as 49-year-old Robert Michael Rasmussen. 

The investigation is still on-going and there is no additional information available at this time.

LOCATION:  62^nd Street West & Avenue M-8, Palmdale

UNIT:  Homicide Bureau, Lt. Lewandowski

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are responding to 62^nd Street West and Avenue M-8, Palmdale, to investigate the circumstances surrounding found human remains. 

Preliminarily, detectives have learned Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel requested Sheriff’s units to assist with traffic control at the location while they worked to excavate a vehicle which was covered in mud in the drainage culvert.  During the excavation, human remains were discovered.

No other information is available at this time.
