October 13th

Theft- 11000 block of San Pablo Ave.
An officer responded to a business and reports an unknown suspect entered the business and stole a lap top computer. The theft occurred on October 12th between 1700 hours to 1730 hours.

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave/ Knott Ave.
An officer was patrolling in the area when he noticed a suspicious vehicle parked. The officer contacted the occupant of the vehicle and conducted a warrants check on him. The officer discovered the 37 year old male from Richmond had an outstanding warrant. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Theft-4010 El Cerrito Plaza (AT&T)
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the business and used an unknown tool to cut the security wire of a phone connected to a display case. The suspect then left the store with the phone.

Domestic Violence - 500 block of Oak Street
At 1920 hours, an officer responded to the report of a domestic disturbance. She contacted the 60 year old male who had reportedly battered his wife resulting in a traumatic injury on October 10th. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Under the influence of a Controlled Substance - Potrero Ave./Eastshore Blvd:
At 2252 hours, an officer contacted a 27 year old male during a bicycle stop. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. He was booked and released on a citation to a sober associate.

October 14th

Robbery - Eastshore Blvd. / Potrero Avenue:
At 0026 hours, officers responded to the report of a robbery. The victim was attacked by a black male, approximately 30 years old, bald, 6 foot tall wearing a black jacket and a black female, approximately 20 years old, thin build with a lip piercing. They punched and kicked him and took his property. He was suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.

Theft from Vehicle- 1600 block of Lexington Ave.
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlock vehicle and stole coins and a GPS device. The theft occurred between 10/13@ 2000 and 10/14@0520 hours.

Theft from Vehicle- 1400 block of Rifle Range Rd.
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a tire gauge and miscellaneous paperwork. The incident occurred between 0900 hours and0936 hours.

Warrant Arrest-800 block of Elm St.
At 1415 hours, an officer was patrolling in the area when he recognized a subject with an outstanding warrant. He contacted the 45 year old female resident of El Cerrito and conducted a warrants check. During a records check, he discovered the female had an outstanding $5K warrant. The female booked and issued a citation with a new court date.

Injury Collision – 7100 block of Potrero Avenue:
At 1932 hours, Officers responded to the report of an auto versus pedestrian collision. A pedestrian crossed the roadway in front of an oncoming vehicle and was struck. He suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local Hospital for treatment.

Burglary of an occupied dwelling – 1600 block of Lexington Avenue.
At 1937 hours, officers responded to the report of an interrupted residential burglary. The resident walked into their room to discover a black male, approximately 20-30 years old, black hooded sweatshirt and black or tan pants standing on a desk by the window. He jumped out the window with her I-Pad.

Petty Theft - 11319 San Pablo Avenue: (Chevron)
At 2014 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject stealing items at Chevron. The suspect, a 28 year old Oakland man was located nearby. While a theft couldn’t be substantiated tonight, the clerk reported him stealing cigarettes on 10-07-15 and placed him under citizen’s arrest. He was booked, issued a citation and released.

Grand Theft / Attempted Burglary - 11858 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2127 hours, Officers responded to the report of two subjects attempting to burglarize a truck used for storage in the rear lot. Both were reported as riding bicycles, one with a trailer. A perimeter was set around the area and a 34 year old Richmond resident and a 38 year old Richmond man were located by officers. The two had stolen a tool box with tools and attempted to break into the truck. One of the subjects was in possession of methamphetamine and the other prescription drugs. They were booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

October 15th

Shoplifter - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 1347 hours, an officer responded to the report of shoplifter at Lucky’s. The subject, a 56 year old transient woman was placed under citizen’s arrest by Loss Prevention agents. She was also found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway):
At 2350 hours, officers responded to the report of a subject causing a disturbance. The subject causing the disturbance, a 46 year old Richmond male was found to have a warrant for his arrest. He was booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

October 16th

Attempted auto burglary – Peet’s Coffee, 9895 San Pablo Ave.
At 0740 hours, an unknown suspect used a tool in attempt to shatter the victim’s car window. The victim was seated in her vehicle and screamed, which scared the suspect away. The suspect fled in a silver Mazda SUV with paper plates.

Auto burglary – 400 block of Colusa Ave.
Between 2200 hours on the 15th and 0730 hours on the 16th, an unknown suspect shattered the passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole CD’s and a phone charger.

Missing person – 1400 block of Richmond St.
The daughter of a 78-year-old El Cerrito man called after she hadn’t spoken to him in several days. The man and his vehicle were entered into the Missing and Unidentified Persons system and a news agencies were informed of his disappearance. Within hours, a friend of the man called his family to let them know the man was in a local hospital and safe.

Vehicle tampering – 7300 block of Cutting Blvd.
Between 2200 hours on the 15th and 0900 hours on the 16th, an unknown suspect defeated the door lock on the victim’s vehicle and disassembled the ignition.

Attempted robbery – 10600 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1155 hours, an unknown suspect entered a business and purchased a soda. When the clerk opened the cash drawer to give change, the suspect lunged over the counter and reached for the till. The clerk was able to push the suspect off and close the till. The suspect fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male adult in his 30’s, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, and a black doo rag.

Violation of restraining order – 500 block of Bonnie Dr.
A 48-year-old Berkeley woman came to her mother’s residence in violation of a restraining order on file. The woman was gone prior to police arrival.

Shoplifting – Lucky, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
An officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 34-year-old San Francisco man after he entered the store and stole merchandise. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Shoplifting, Warrant arrest – Lucky, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
An officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 69-year-old Richmond man after he entered the store and stole merchandise. During booking at the El Cerrito Police Department, officers found that he had a warrant issued for his arrest. The man was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Traffic Collision – Avis Drive / Moeser Lane
At 2251 hours, officers responded to a vehicle into a tree. Upon arrival, it was determined the 72 year old driver lost control of her vehicle and collided with a chain link fence running along Avis Drive and Cerrito Vista Park. She was not injured.

DUI, Warrant – San Pablo Ave / Macdonald Ave
At 0009 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 32 year old male driver from Richmond for DUI. The driver was also wanted on a warrant stemming from a May 2015 El Cerrito DUI arrest. He was cited and released.

Public Intoxication – 1700 block Liberty Street
At 0231 hours, officers responded to a vandalism report and located a 25 year old male resident of El Cerrito in the parking lot inebriated. The man was not a resident of the apartment complex and causing a disturbance. One resident who was awoken by his ruckus told him to be quiet. He responded my throwing a rock at the window followed by vulgar comments. He was arrested and taken to MDF.

October 17th

Warrant arrest – 6000 block of Avila Ave.
Officers were dispatched to the area for a man seated on the neighbor’s porch who did not belong. Officers contacted the 28-year-old transient man and found he had a warrant issued for his arrest. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Mental health evaluation – 1100 block of Liberty St.
Officers were dispatched to a residence after a 42-year-old El Cerrito man shot himself in the hand during a suicide attempt. Upon arrival, the man was ordered out the house and detained. ECFD and AMR responded to the scene and he was subsequently transported to the hospital for the injury and also a psychiatric evaluation.

Stolen vehicle – Carlson Blvd. / Avila Ave.
Sometime between 1300 and 1700 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1998 Honda Civic.

Miscellaneous investigation – Carmel Ave. / Ward Ave.
A citizen called to report organs from a small animal on the sidewalk in the area. A neighborhood check was conducted and signs of a struggle were located in a planter box area nearby. It appears that the animal was killed by a predator.

Warrant – Dollar Tree, Dollar Tree, 11555 San Pablo Ave
At 1936 hours, an officer contacted a 62 year old Oakland man to the rear of Dollar Tree and arrested him on a Contra Costa County warrant. He was booked and cited.

Warrant – Safeway, Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave
At 2021 hours, officers responded to an unwanted subject at Safeway. A 27 year old transient male was contacted inside and arrested on a Contra Costa warrant. He was booked and cited.

Strongarm Robbery) – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave
At approximately 2125 hours, the victim who uses an electric scooter/wheelchair to get around was approached by S-1 to the rear of Walgreens. S-1 pushed the victim to the ground, toppling the wheelchair, and then took the victim’s black leather bag containing toiletry items and cash. S-1 was seen with another man (S-2). S-1 was described as a black male, approximately 34-35 years old, light facial hair, 5-08 and 170 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a red and grey shirt. S-2 was described as a black male, 5-11, and wearing utility pants.

Attempted Armed Robbery, Sexual Battery – BART Path / Potrero Ave
At approximately 2030 hours, two victims were walking southbound on the BART Path when they were approached from behind by two suspects. The suspects went through the victims’ pockets while holding them at gunpoint. One of the suspects grabbed one of the victim’s breast. No property was taken. Suspect 1 was a described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, 5-09, with an average build, black hair, and wearing a grey jacket and dark jeans. Suspect 2 was armed and described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, 5-09, with an average build, black hair, and wearing a long khaki or tan jacket with a hood covering his face.

October 18th

Armed Robbery – Chevron, 11319 San Pablo Ave
At 1907 hours, the suspect entered Chevron and brandished a firearm hen the clerk opened the cash register. The suspect stole cash and then fled westbound on Potrero Avenue. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, 5-11, with short hair and armed with a handgun.

Attempted Armed Robbery – 2000 block Junction Ave
At 2111 hours, two suspects ran up on the victim as he walked away from his vehicle. S-1was holding a metallic object which the victim believed was a weapon. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house while one suspect chased after him. Suspect 1 was a Hispanic male, early 20s, 5-10, 180, blue jacket with a hood and blue jeans. Suspect 2 was a black male, early 20s, 5-10, 160, dark sweatshirt, saggy blue jeans.
