Three Arrested for Vehicle Burglary

On Monday, October 19, 2015, at approximately 2216 hours, Signal Hill police officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of E. Hill Street after a citizen reported seeing a parked vehicle with its window smashed and personal items on the ground nearby.  While officers were on scene, another citizen called to report a theft in progress from another vehicle, in the area of Gaviota Avenue and 21st Street.  A short time later, three male juveniles were detained and two witnesses identified them as the same people they saw near the burglarized vehicles.  The three juveniles were in violation of the curfew law and they had stolen items from the vehicles in their possession, along with a tool that breaks glass.  Two of the three juveniles confessed to breaking into multiple vehicles in search of money, specifically loose change.  In total, six vehicles were burglarized, two vehicles had shattered windows, and one vehicle had pry marks, but no entry was made.  All three juveniles were arrested for violating the curfew law and for vehicular burglary.
