Ceres CA - On October 17, 2015, the Ceres Police Department and Fire Department were sent to the 2300 block of 5th street in regards to a suspicious device. The device was located by new home owners who were moving their belongings in their new home. The device was located in a shed behind the home.

Through investigation, it was determined that it was a possible explosive device. Authorities began making evacuations to nearby residences and part of 5th street was closed for safety precautions.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene to assist. The Bomb Squad determined that the device had all the components to be a bomb. The device looked to have been there for several years. The device was collected by the bomb squad and safely destroyed to prevent any injuries to citizens or authorities.

At approximately 7pm, 5th street was opened and citizens were allowed back into their homes in the neighborhood.
