Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Wednesday, 10-07-15 at 4:09 a.m., Officer Christian Poteat and Officer Jaime Bermudez were following a vehicle in the area of Wellington Avenue and Brunswick Street. Prior to stopping the vehicle, the officers learned the vehicle was stolen from San Francisco. Just before Officer Poteat activated his vehicle’s lighting equipment, he said the driver pulled over and suddenly stuck both of his hands out of the driver’s side window. Officers ordered both the driver and the passenger out of the vehicle. The driver, a 31-year old Oroville resident, had a pouch in his possession containing four small plastic bags—three that contained a crystal-like substance recognized to be crystal methamphetamine and the other bag contained heroin. He also had identification and a passport belonging to someone else in his possession. Officer Bonnie Shiu arrived on the scene and asked the female passenger, a 29-year old Novato resident, if she had any weapons on her person, and the subject said she had a methamphetamine pipe in her bra. Officer Shiu pulled out the pipe from the subject’s pocket, as well as a plastic bag containing crystal methamphetamine. Inside the car, officers located a screw driver (which was used to start the vehicle) and an open folding knife. The driver was arrested for vehicle theft with a prior, possession of a stolen vehicle, identification, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic controlled substance and for possession of burglary tools. The passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, 10-08-15 at 2:13 p.m., an off-duty officer reported seeing a vehicle in Pacifica matching the description of a vehicle involved in a car-jacking the night before in San Bruno. The officer followed the vehicle until Daly City police units could respond. A pursuit ensued into Daly City, and the driver, a 33-year old transient, hit and ran two vehicles near the area of Brooklawn Avenue and Southgate Avenue. The subject fled the vehicle but was located a short time later. He was arrested for hit and run, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy and possession of a stolen vehicle. The subject’s passenger, a 32-year old Pacifica resident, had exited the vehicle prior to the pursuit. She was arrested for a parole violation warrant, possession of a stolen vehicle and for conspiracy.

On Friday, 10-09-15 at 10:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Mayfair Avenue on a report of four to five males being loud, drinking and smoking marijuana inside of a black four door vehicle. A 28-year old Daly City resident was subsequently arrested for possession of a narcotic controlled substance (Xanax and Oxycodone), possession of unlawful paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

On Friday, 10-04-15 at 9:41 p.m., a 61-year old female was crossing the crosswalk on Mission Street at Vale Street when she was hit by a driver in a white Isuzu-type vehicle. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment. The driver fled the scene, and the vehicle is outstanding.

On Sunday, 10-11-15 at 8:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to Serramonte Boulevard and Callan Boulevard on the report of a male who was under the influence of alcohol who refused to get off the bus. The subject, a 23-year old Daly City resident, initially provided a false name to officers. He was arrested for violation of parole, being drunk in public, and for providing false identification to a police officer.

Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
