Child Welfare Check Leads to Drug Seizure and Endangerment Charges

On 10-14-15, at 8:25 a.m. Ripon Police Department officers Paul Staley and Kristin Garcia responded to the Ripon Motel (359 Parallel Ave.) to check on the welfare of a child living in a Quonset hut on the property. Officers observed unfit living conditions, and evidence that marijuana was being grown and harvested at the location.

Detective Gordon West with Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) quickly obtained a search warrant for the location.

Upon searching the Quonset hut officers located evidence of marijuana sales. Methamphetamine, philocybin mushrooms, suspected LSD, packaged and processed marijuana and butane hash oil were also discovered. A butane hash oil lab was located in the Quonset hut. Due to the nature of this case, Child Protective Services professionals were integrated into the investigations team. Children were placed into the custody of a relative.

Tristan Thomas Brys (30) of Ripon was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the San Joaquin County jail on charges that included: Manufacturing a controlled substance, child endangerment, cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance and possession of concentrated cannabis.

Angela Jean Anderson (25) of Ripon was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the San Joaquin County jail on charges that included: Manufacturing a controlled substance, child endangerment, cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance and possession of concentrated cannabis.
