Two vehicle collision on S. Ross yesterday claims life of local woman, 91.
On October 9, 2015 at approximately 5:50 PM, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the 2200 block of Ross-Osage. Upon their arrival they discovered this was a head-on collision. A 2002 GMC Yukon driven by Ana Castillo, WF, 42 of Plainview, TX was stopped in the center turn lane. She was turning from southbound on Ross Osage to eastbound on Pine St. She was struck by a 2005 Lincoln Town Car driven northbound by Doris Willis, WF, 70 of Amarillo. The front seat passenger of the Lincoln, Zola Tipton, WF, 91 of Amarillo was taken to a local hospital where she later died as a result of injuries received in the crash. The driver of the Lincoln and another passenger in the Lincoln, Helen Willis, WF, 55 were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC and her three passengers were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All occupants involved were wearing seat belts. Speed is a factor in the collision. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept.
