Newman, CA- Early this morning the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team assisted the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Detectives in serving an arrest and search warrant in the town of Fowler, CA. Stanislaus Detectives had an arrest warrant for Ricardo Ortiz, age 39, for the murder of Gabriel Rodriguez.
The search and arrest warrant were served without incident and Ortiz was transported to the Stanislaus County Men's Jail and booked on the warrant for murder.
Rodriguez was killed on September 26, 2015 at Martins Mobile Home Park in the 26000 Block of River Rd just outside Newman, CA. The original call came out at 8:51 PM when deputies responded to a 911 call of shots being fired inside the mobile home park. When deputies arrived they found 57 year old Rodriguez shot. Emergency services personnel arrived and Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a second suspect involved with the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jesse Tovar at 209-525-7080.
