September 21st

Auto Burglary-6600 block of Gatto Ave.
A Community Service Officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the front right passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a purse along with other property. The theft occurred between 0830 and 0855 hours.

Auto Burglary-6600 block of Gatto Ave.
A Community Service Officer reported an unknown suspect smashed out the right rear sliding passenger door window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a purse along with other property. The theft occurred between 0840 and 0855 hours.

Auto Burglary- 6100 block of Barrett Ave.
A Community Service Officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the right front passenger window and stole a purse along with other property. The theft occurred between 0820-0830 hours.

Theft from Vehicle-900 block of S.55th St
A Community Service Officer reported an unknown suspect stole both exterior mirrors from the victim’s Honda Odyssey van. The theft occurred between 9/20@ 2100 hours and 9/21@0900 hours.

Residential Burglary-200 block of Carmel Ave.
An officer reported that unknown suspects entered the victim’s garage via an opened garage door and stole the victim’s Ritchey road bicycle (dark gray) worth $2000.00. The theft occurred at 0957 hours.

Residential Burglary/Possession of a Controlled Substance-3100 block of Yosemite Ave.
At 1005 a citizen reported seeing a male removing the wooden boards of the abandoned building. Officers responded and located a 44 year old male from Richmond in the backyard rummaging through a container box. During the contact, the male attempted to walk away from officers. The male was quickly detained. During a search of the male, officers located suspected methamphetamine in his possession. During the investigation, officers discovered a detach garage had been entered. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – 10621 San Pablo Avenue
At 2011 hours, an officer noticed a 28 year old Richmond man who the officer knew was wanted on several Contra Costa County misdemeanor warrants. The subject was stopped, arrested and released on two citations.

Strong Arm Robbery/Domestic Battery-11500 block of San Pablo Ave.
An off-duty El Cerrito Police officer was driving in the area when he heard the driver of a stalled vehicle yelling for help. As the officer drove pass the vehicle he noticed the male passenger in the front seat was choking the female driver. While maintaining surveillance of the vehicle, the officer called a uniformed officer via cellular phone to report the incident. As he was speaking to the officer, the victim exited the vehicle and attempted to run away from the male. The male caught up with the victim and began to choke the victim again. The off-duty officer intervened and detained the male until other officers arrived on scene. During the investigation, officers discovered the victim and suspect were in a previous dating relationship and the male was attempting to steal money from the victim. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Domestic Battery-11700 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1200 hours, officers responded to a domestic dispute detail. During the investigation, officers discovered the 27 year old female punched the father of her children approximately twenty times. The female also used a hanger and broom to hit the male causing visible injuries. The female was arrested and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department. During booking, the female advised officers she suffered from a mental illness that caused her to want to physically harm herself. The female was issued a citation for domestic battery. AMR was called and the female was transported to the county hospital for medical treatment.

September 22nd

Shoplifting-11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway)
At 1345 hours, an officer responded to Safeway for an in-custody shoplifter detail. Upon arrival, the officer accepted the Citizen’s Arrest of a 55 year old male from Richmond. The male was detained by loss prevention agents when he attempted to leave the store with meat products. During the investigation the officer conducted a records check and discovered the male had an active warrant. After booking the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary-1400 block of Liberty St.
At 1525 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect smashed out the driver’s side passenger door window and removed property.

Residential Burglary - 2045 Tapscott Ave:
At 1746 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. An investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) entered via an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the interior, stealing jewelry and electronics. A neighbor reported seeing two suspicious persons in the area at 1130 hours. The two subjects were described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, six feet tall, 280 lbs, wearing a white tee-shirt and dark pants and as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 40 years old, 5’10” inches, thin build, wearing a light colored shirt and dark pants.

Armed Robbery - Safeway - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1805 hours, officers responded to the report of a shoplifter who while fighting with store security attempted to stab them with a knife. Officers arrived and took custody of the subject, a 50 year old Oakland man. He was wanted from prior theft related cases where he provided the name of another subject. He was booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Auto Burglary - Nation’s 6060 Central Ave:
At 2313 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary in the Nations parking lot. An unidentified suspect smashed a window of a vehicle and removed a backpack. The theft occurred between 2235 hours and 2313 hours.

September 23rd

Stolen Vehicle-1400 block of Navellier St.
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s green 1998 Honda Civic. The theft occurred in between 0100 hours and 0700 hours.

Stolen Vehicle-500 block of Colusa .
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s black 1997 Honda Accord. The theft occurred in between 9/22@ 1800 hours and 9/23@ 0815 hours.

Residential Burglary/Petty Theft- 400 Ashbury
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlock vehicle and stole property. During the theft, the suspect located the victim’s garage door opener. The suspect used the garage door opener to gain access to the victim’s garage and removed property. The theft occurred between 9/22@ 2200 hours and 9/23@ 0800 hours.

Stolen Vehicle-Willow St@ Elm St.
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s blue 1994 Honda Del Sol. The theft occurred in between 0530 hours and 1500 hours. The vehicle was recovered by an officer on September 24th in the 500 block of Elm Street.

Auto Burglary-300 block of San Carlos Ave
An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred in between 1518 hours and 1520 hours.

Grand Theft from vehicle - 10551 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1820 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle. The victim’s purse containing $3000 in cash was stolen from her car in between 1630 -1700 hours by an unidentified suspect.

Credit Card Fraud - 4060 EC Plaza (Massage Envy)
At 1847 hours, an officer responded to the report of a woman’s credit card being used to purchase $1800 in gift cards. The victim still had their credit card in their possession so it was likely the card was duplicated by an unknown suspect.

Assault on a police officer / Domestic Violence restraining order - 10900 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1925 hours, an officer was flagged down by the police department. A previous domestic violence victim reported that his ex-girlfriend was refusing to get out of his vehicle. The suspect, a 26 year old Oakland woman was barred from harassing the victim as a result of a domestic violence restraining order. When the suspect went after the disabled victim, officers intervened. The woman fought with officers, biting and scratching at them. The woman was restrained in an immobilization device for safety reasons. Officers recognized she may be suffering from extreme controlled substance intoxication. Once she was in custody, she was transported immediately via ambulance to a local hospital to monitor her for excited delirium. Once she was cleared by the medical staff, she was booked into the Contra Costa County Detention Facility.

Mental Health Evaluation – 500 block of Lexington Ave:
At 0105 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject suffering a mental health crisis. The subject was committed for a mental health evaluation.

Mental Health Evaluation – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0231 hours, an officer observed a 58 year old woman carrying an umbrella and wearing sunglasses with one lens walking in the middle of San Pablo Avenue screaming profanities. She was determined to suffering a mental health crisis. She was committed for a mental health evaluation.

September 24th

Warrant Arrest-800 block of Elm St.
At 1106 hours, officers were patrolling in the area when they recognized a female that had an outstanding warrant standing IFO her residence. Officers contacted the 46 year old female and took her into custody for the warrant without incident. The female was taken to the El Cerrito Police Department and booked on the warrant.

Hate Crime - Terrorist Threats – 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2207 hours, Officers responded to the report of a man inside Safeway threatening to shoot people. A 28 year old Richmond male was detained in front of the store. A seventeen year old black male clerk had complimented him on his eyeglasses; however the suspect was offended by the compliment. He chased the clerk around the store, threatening to shoot him, calling him racial epithets and knocking over display items. He chased him out of the store where the victim got into his mother’s car and departed. The suspect then got into his vehicle and chased the victim through the parking lot a short distance. He returned to the store. He then went back into the store and threatened to shoot anyone else who had something to say about his glasses and continued to use racial epithets. He then threatened to shoot another employee. Team Two interviewed numerous witnesses in the busy store. The subject was booked into the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

September 25th

Stolen vehicle, Warrant arrest – 10600 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1259 hours, officers were dispatched to the area after the victim located her stolen RV being driven by the suspect, a 49-year-old transient man. Officers located the RV parked in a parking lot and conducted a high-risk stop. The man complied and exited the RV, where he was arrested. A records check of the man revealed three outstanding warrants for his arrest. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possesses Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia, Warrant – San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd
At 1955 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the 22 year old male driver from Berkeley was in possession of a syringe loaded heroin and additional syringes. The 22 year old male passenger from Concord was wanted on a Contra Costa County warrant. The driver was cited on the charges and the passenger was transported to MDF on the warrant.

Strong Arm Robbery, Conspiracy – Lucky, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 2127 hours, officers responded to Lucky regarding two suspects, later identified as a 24 year old male from Oakland and a 19 year old female from Albany. The suspects filled a shopping cart with energy drinks and then made their way towards the exit. An employee attempted to stop the suspects as they exited the store. The male suspect blocked the employee as the female continued to push the cart away from the store. The male then shoved the employee and reached into his backpack, simulating a firearm, and told the employee he would shoot him. The suspects were located at the Plaza BART Station still in possession of the stolen merchandise and arrested. Additionally, the male was also on two counts of probation in Contra Costa County. Both were transported to MDF.

September 26th

Possesses Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave / Moeser Lane
At 0014 hours, an officer conducted a stop on a bicyclist and arrested the 38 year old male Richmond resident for possession of methamphetamines and a pipe. He was booked and cited.

September 27th

Warrant – BART Path / Waldo
At 0019 hours, an officer conducted a stop on a bicyclist and arrested the 39 year old Richmond man on a no bail Contra Costa County warrant. He was transported to MDF.

September 28th

Commercial burglary – El Cerrito Plaza
At 0057 hours, an unknown suspect forced his way into a business by pushing in a plastic panel. Once inside, the suspect stole cash from the register. The suspect is described as a black male adult, 5’10-5’11, 220 lbs., wearing a black parka, white hooded sweatshirt, and light jeans.

Auto burglary – 2000 block of Tapscott Ave.
Between 0825 and 0900 hours, an unknown suspect shattered a rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a child’s backpack.

Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of ammunition by a minor – 540 Ashbury Ave.
At 1326 hours, an officer contacted a 16-year-old student and found that he was in possession of methamphetamine and a loaded shotgun shell. The student was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department before being released to his mother.

Grand theft – T-mobile, 11511 San Pablo Ave.
At 1638 hours, two unknown suspects entered the business and stole over two-thousand dollars worth of merchandise. The suspects fled in an older model Toyota Camry, or similar vehicle. The suspects are described as two black males in their 40’s, wearing red and white t-shirts and dark pants.

Possesses Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia – MacDonald Ave / Wilson Way
At 2309 hours, an officer contacted a 20 year old Richmond man who was found to be in possession of Methamphetamines and a glass pipe. He was booked and cited.
