Rancho Cucamonga - Sergeant Anthony Vega assists the father in the delivery of baby Emma Rose Hernandez

DATE/TIME: October 2, 2015/ 2:27 p.m.

INCIDENT: Medical Aid (mother in labor)

LOCATION: Arrow Route and Archibald Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga

SUMMARY: On October 2, 2015, at around 2:27 p.m. deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a medical aid call near the intersection of Arrow Route and Archibald Avenue regarding a female in labor.

Sergeant Anthony Vega arrived on scene within minutes and found Candice Hernandez in labor in the back seat of her vehicle. Vega determined delivering the baby at the scene was the only option. Vega and the child’s father, John Hernandez, delivered a healthy baby girl at 2:33 p.m. Candice and Emma were transported to San Antonio Reginal Hospital for evaluation.

Emma Rosa Hernandez weighed 7.4 pounds and was 18 ½ inches. Both Emma and Candice are doing great and were released from the hospital later that day.
