Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 09-21-15 at 6:04 p.m., Officer Louis Jackson stopped a subject on a motorcycle at 87th Street and Sullivan Avenue. The subject advised he did not have his driver's license in his possession, and he did not have a motorcycle license. The subject, a 24-year old Daly City resident, said he took the motorcycle driver's license test twice and failed. He told the officer he was just trying to get home. The driver was cited for driving a motorcycle while being an unlicensed motorcycle driver and his motorcycle was towed.

On Wednesday, 09-23-15 between 1:20 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., a 26-year old Daly City resident said he met with a female via Craigslist, picked her up in San Francisco and drove her to his apartment on Poncetta Drive. The victim said they talked for a few minutes, and the female told him to take a shower. When the victim got out of his shower, he discovered the female was gone, along with his Apple MacBook, mini iPad and iPhone. The female’s image was put on our Daly City Police Department’s Facebook page, and our investigators are working on leads received from that posting.

On Wednesday, 09-23-15 at 4:05 p.m., Officer Scott Bowman was on patrol in the area of Park Plaza Drive and Belmar Avenue and noticed two subjects near a vehicle that was blocking street, disrupting the flow of traffic. The vehicle had the hood up, and the officer conducted a check on the vehicle, which he found out was expired in 2008, yet the license plate tabs were 2016. The officer contacted the male subject who appeared nervous and moving quickly from side to side. The subject said he had recently purchased the vehicle and was having trouble with it. The officer asked both subjects if they were on probation or parole, and the male stated no, but the female said yes. The female, a 42-year old San Francisco resident, had a small amount of heroin in her purse and was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The male subject, a 50-year old transient, after giving a false name, was arrested for two felony warrants from San Francisco.

On Friday, 09-25-14 at 12:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Hickey Boulevard on a report of a subject with a crowbar who attempted to make entry into the building. The reporting party said he was driving his vehicle into the apartment complex garage, and as the door was closing, he saw a subject who was trying to get underneath the door. The reporting party said he told the subject that he doesn’t live there, and the subject told him his uncle lived there. The reporting party asked the subject what was his uncle’s apartment number, and the subject gave a number that didn’t exist. The reporting party told the subject he was going to call the police. The reporting party said the subject then ran to his vehicle and retrieved a tire iron and advanced toward him. Officers arrested the subject, a 45-year old South San Francisco resident, for brandishing a weapon and for preventing/dissuading the victim from calling the police.

On Saturday, 09-26-15 at 8:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Brunswick Street on a report of a father with a knife threatening to attack his son. Officers said the 55-year old father said he had a verbal argument with his son but never had a knife in his hand. Both the witness (family member) and victim stated the father had a knife. Officers arrested the subject for assault with a deadly weapon. There were no injuries.

There were two robberies during the past week.

On Tuesday, 09-22-15 at 9:44 a.m., the Lucky’s Supermarket was the victim of a commercial burglary by a shoplifter who then attempted to punch a security officer when he was confronted. The subject, a 23-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for both robbery and shoplifting. (The punching in this instance constitutes a robbery.)

On Sunday, 09-27-15 at 12:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to Papa Ray’s Pizza on Geneva Avenue on a report of a robbery that just occurred. An employee saw a subject take a 2-liter bottle of soda from the refrigerator and walk towards the door without paying. The employee confronted the subject and asked him to return the soda. The subject refused, handed it to another subject, and the employee tried to grab the soda. The employee fell to the ground, and the subject began to punch the victim. Two other subjects also began punching and kicking the employee in the head. The first suspect is only described as a Hispanic male adult wearing a red tee-shirt. All subjects fled the area. The 46-year old victim refused medical attention.

Pacifica P.D. has reported that some of their residents have reported receiving calls from an “IRS Agent” who threatened to arrest the resident if the resident didn’t pay for “back taxes”. Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
