UPDATED INFORMATION / ARREST

Homicide – 1600 block of Neil Armstrong, Montebello CA.
On September 29th at approximately 6:45pm the Montebello Police Department arrested Sean Matthew Garcia age 25 from Montebello for the murder of Brian Lee Gomez age 28 from Long Beach.
Investigators believe that Garcia and Gomez first communicated with one another through a website called OFFERUP.COM. An arrangement was made for Gomez to sell Garcia some jewelry.
On September 28th just before 6:30pm Gomez arrived in area of 1620 Neil Armstrong to meet Garcia. It was at this time Garcia appeared with an assault type rifle and chased down Gomez and shot him. This took place on the sidewalk and street area at commuter time.
Investigators with the help of OFFERUP.COM and other resources were able to identify Garcia.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Garcia’s residence. Additional evidence was taken that linked Garcia to the crime. This included assault rifle parts believed to be from the weapon used by Garcia.
During the investigation, another robbery victim surfaced. This crime was never reported. This victim was robbed of an assault rifle similar to the weapon used in Gomez’s homicide. Evidence linked Garcia to this robbery as well.
