Narrative:
On September 27, 2015, Headquarters patrol deputies responded to a child custody call for service in El Rio. Deputies quickly determined that during monitored visitation, Summer Rey and her boyfriend, Daniel Rodriguez, took Rey’s nine month old child in violation of a court order.
Patrol deputies and Major Crimes Detectives searched several locations in the El Rio and Oxnard area and discovered information that Rey and Rodriguez were headed to Mexico with the child. The Department of Homeland Security was alerted and several hours later, Rey and Rodriguez were detained and arrested at the San Ysidro Border Station. Rey and Rodriguez were returned to Ventura County without incident and they were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The child was unharmed and was returned to his father.
