Nature of Incident: Deputies Make Arrest During In-progress Vehicle Burglary

Narrative:
On September 23, 2015 Headquarters patrol deputies responded to a vehicle burglary in progress on Ocean Drive in Oxnard. The deputies arrived and found the victim of the vehicle burglary detaining a suspect. The suspect was identified as Ventura resident Thomas Ledbetter.
The victim was preparing for work, saw suspect Ledbetter in his vehicle and confronted him. A physical altercation ensued and the victim detained the suspect until deputies arrived on scene. The victim and suspect received injuries and were treated and released.
Ledbetter was found to be in possession of the victim’s property. Additional stolen property was recovered that belonged to additional victims. Sheriff Detectives are completing a follow-up investigation to locate possible victims.
Thomas Ledbetter was booked for vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property and felony battery at the Ventura County Main Jail. His bail was set at $40,000.00. Ledbetter will be arraigned on September 25, 2015 at 1:30 PM.
