Salida CA – On 09-22-15 at approximately 9:57 PM Stockton Police Department Officer Brian Breckenridge, a 19 year veteran assigned to the traffic unit, saw a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in a robbery. The vehicle passed him at a high rate of speed on Highway 99 and Main Street in Ripon, CA. When Officer Breckenridge pulled up to the vehicle the driver, 29 year old Jessie Bryant of Turlock, got out of the car and pointed a gun at him. Officer Breckenridge fired his department handgun hitting Bryant at least one time. Bryant was transported to the emergency room with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger, a 27 year old man from Turlock, was transported to the emergency room for injuries sustained from the traffic collision.

As part of a countywide protocol for officer involved shootings; detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, Investigators with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office and the California Highway Patrol worked through out the night processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses. Investigators from Stockton PD were also on scene. During the course of the investigation detectives recovered a replica firearm at the crime scene.
