Salida CA – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an officer involved shooting on Highway 99 south of Hammett Rd in Salida, CA.
On 09-22-15 at approximately 9:57 PM a Stockton Police Department Officer saw a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in a robbery. The vehicle passed the officer at a high rate of speed on Highway 99 and Main Street in Ripon, CA. The officer began to pursue the vehicle into Stanislaus County and the vehicle crashed south of Hammett Road on Highway 99.
When the Stockton PD officer pulled up to the vehicle the driver got out of the car and pointed a gun at the officer. The officer fired at the suspect hitting him at least one time. The suspect was transported to the emergency room with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger in the vehicle was transported to the emergency for injuries sustained from the traffic collision.
Sheriff’s detectives will complete their investigation as part of a countywide protocol for officer involved shootings. Detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, Investigators with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office and the California Highway Patrol are currently working on the investigation. Investigators from Stockton PD are also on scene.
